BOOK REVIEW:
“What girl deep down inside doesn’t fall for a good love story?”
Kyndra hasn’t had the best of luck lately, since her grandmother passed away one year ago; she has been kicked out of their old place. She now spends her night between living on the streets, staying at her drug- dealer boyfriend’s house and her best friend from high school’s house. On Christmas Eve she wonders into a mass after having nowhere to go, at least here she might feel a bit closer to her grandmother. While watching all the families passing by a man named Aidan approaches her claiming he knows her. After the mass Aidan brings her to his house for the night, here she finds comfort and safety, but is Aidan really telling her about his true self?
Aidan is an author of novels, but goes under the pen name Alison Duprois, these novels are a memoirs of his life. By documenting his search for the reincarnation of his love for the past three hundred years, he has become a best-selling author. Kyndra has always enjoyed reading Alison Duprois’ novels; she just didn’t know she would end up living one of them.
I feel like if it wasn’t for bad luck, Kyndra would have luck at all. Once Kyndra has a place to stay and decides to get her CNA to get her life in order, she gets fired from her current job. Once Kyndra received a job in a hospital after completing her CNA course she stumbles upon her mom, who has never been part of her life. She is completely torn on how she feels about the situation as well. Also, being in the relationship she is in with Aidan she ends up losing many people she once cared about. Although it may be for the best, it still took a toll on her.
I enjoyed the fact that although this was in the POV of Kyndra we were able to see some thoughts through Aidan’s eyes while Kyndra was reading his novels. I was able to truly get a sense of how he felt and how strong his attraction to her truly was.
I have to admit that do not read many vampire books, this is only my third one and I have yet to fall in love with a vampire character until now! He seemed so very different from all the others that I have read.
Also, I have not read any other novels in the Night Song Collection, but did not interfere with me enjoying this novel. I also hope Kristen Strassel will maybe write from Aidan’s point of view, I know I would really enjoy it!
