BOOK SUMMERY:

Bank Teller and all around good girl, Sydney McKnight, is tired of being the girl all the guys want to have as a friend. Who better to help unleash her inner vixen than her best friend and secret crush, Brody Lawson? Fire Captain Brody Lawson has been in love with his best friend, Sydney, for years, but he would never risk their friendship by confessing his feelings to her. So, when Sydney beats out the competition to buy his time at the annual Firemen’s Auction, Brody can hardly believe his luck until she asks him to teach her how to seduce a fellow fireman.

Now, it’s up to Brody to show Sydney how perfect she already is and convince her that the only man for her is him, because if Sydney is going to seduce any man, it’s going to be him. And once he has her in his bed, he’s not letting her go.

BOOK REVIEW:

What a sweet story about two best friends secretly in love with each other, finding each other with a little help from their friends. Love So Hot engaged me from the first page!! I not only adored both main characters I adored all their friendships as well. Sydney and Brody had so much chemistry and I felt it, and it help that once Body started to help Sydney they sizzled right away and couldn’t deny their attraction anymore, their love was so hot! It was interesting to see that the town they lived in was so old fashion, if couples weren’t “officially together” and were known to be sleeping together, the women may be seen in a different way. Another example was Kyle wanted to buy earrings for Sydney, but because they were engaged the gift was inappropriate. Of course I wish the story was a little longer so I can see more of these two in a relationship, but many a second story will be snuck in there somewhere.

Marquita’s epilogue was different giving the reader a glimpse into the next book while showing what has happened to Sydney and Brody!

I love Marquita’s writing and I cannot what so see what she has in store for the rest of this series and the rest of the Lawson brothers.

Pretty Shameless (Deputy Laney Briggs, #2)

Title- Pretty Shamless

Author- Jodi Linton

Publisher- Entangled Publishing

BOOK SUMMERY:

The only rules she follows are her own…

Wherever deputy Laney Briggs goes, trouble always follows behind—except when Laney is the trouble. Right now, Laney is on the hunt for her not-so-bright cousin, who is wanted for gun smuggling. But there’s a sexy, hot-assed Texas Ranger on the same case, and Laney would bet her britches (and everything else she’s wearing) that Gunner Wilson knows something she doesn’t. It just requires a bit of sexy espionage…

Gunner knows all too well just how damned distracting Laney and her little red cowboy boots can be. The pure, unadulterated want between them has never been stronger—and Gunner can’t resist making her crazy. But even as she gives into every carnal craving for Gunner, Laney is determined to get her answers, one mind-meltingly hot night at a time. The only question is whether she’ll be ready for the truth…

BOOK REVIEW:

I had a little trouble getting through this book. I am not sure if it was the fact that I never read any of the other books I this series or that it was not what I expected it to be. I love mystery and suspenseful book, but I felt there wasn’t that much if it in this book. I felt as though the elements of this were over shadowed by all the characters lust for one another. Not to mention I wasn’t too sure was going on with Laney’s cousin, nothing was really explained. All I knew was he was in a lot of trouble, but unclear on what kind of trouble.

As for the characters I felt little for their relationship. It felt that it was all about lust between Laney and Gunner. They never were able to have a full conversation and when they tried it just turned into sex. There was one scene where Gunner opened up to Laney and I truly enjoyed that part.

I do not think this was a bad book by all means, it just wasn’t for me. I know that a lot of readers will enjoy this novel, but I do recommend reading the first installment before the second.

When Ashley arrived at college, she never dreamed she’d find this kind of happiness. Will she allow herself to hold on to this happiness, and Colin, or will her fear of losing her friends, the only friends she’s ever known, dictate her actions?

Book Review:

Accepted was a sweet new adult romance which dealt with friendship, love and tearing down walls. I loved so many parts of this book, the characters, the plot and every compelling scene. I absolutely adored Ashley, she was such a sweet girl that desperately wanted to feel wanted and loved. The thing was she was missing out on some of that while worrying about what she would lose if she would allow Colin in. Becca and Colin were also great characters! I wish this story was longer so I could have seen more interaction between Becca and Ashley, they seemed to become great best friends and I wanted to see/feel that a little more. Colin on the other hand was a sweetheart, he was behind Ashley every step of the way and even did things that made me say “aww” after I found out.

The things that I didn’t like aren’t huge; I just wish the story was longer!!!!! I did not want to give up reading right when Ashley and Colin started their relationship! I was left wanting more, maybe a second book can be written 😉

BOOK SUMMERY:

It’s Mardi Gras time in New Orleans. Attending a masquerade ball, wealthy fashion designer Caterine Doucette, dressed as a shimmering ice princess, has her cool façade shattered when she encounters Bayou-born ex-cop Remi Michaud, disguised as the darkly handsome pirate Jean Lafitte. Their true identities hidden, the princess and the pirate come together in an explosion of passion and desire. But when fantasy turns to cold reality, Caterine panics and disappears into the night, unaware this man will soon be sent to rescue her from a killer and will capture her heart.

Orphaned at a young age, Caterine grew up in the home of her beloved grandmother, Miss Dauphine Doucette. Despised by her Doucette relatives for the devotion she received from her grandmère, Caterine suffered years of envy and disdain. The young Caterine learned quickly how easily the love she had to give could be thrown back in her face.

After Miss Dauphine turns over ownership of the century-old fashion house, Ma Chérie, to Caterine, an attempt is made on her life, for there are those in the Doucette family who will stop at nothing to possess what they feel is their rightful inheritance.

Not knowing whom to trust, Caterine goes into hiding. Miss Dauphine, convinced someone in her own family is behind the attack, hires Remi, now working for a private security company, to track her down and unmask her would-be assassin.

Learning that the affluent Caterine Doucette is the beautiful princess he held in his arms at the ball, Remi is torn between his growing desire for her and painful memories of another rich socialite’s betrayal. Caterine finds herself falling in love with Remi, but old embedded pain leaves her afraid to open her heart.

Down in the Big Easy, Caterine and Remi must learn to trust one another if they are to survive in a world of family greed and ruthless revenge

BOOK REVIEW:

Caterine and Remi met like they were in as though they were in a fairy tale. They originally met on the street when Caterine was fighting with her boyfriend. Their second meeting however their second meeting reminded me of a more scandalous version of Cinderella involving a pirate and not a prince (and I am not complaining). At the ball they danced, had sex in arbor, and she left a hair clip while running away. The only difference was this pirate knew exactly who his princess was. Who would not want a night like that, I think most girls have a fantasy like that, even if they don’t admit it. I was rooting for these two to be together and not let the fact that they were from different economy classes get in the way.

Rue Toulouse was filled with so much mystery; I kept trying to figure out who was trying to kill Caterine. Each time the charterers suspected another character I completely agreed and saw how they could have been after Caterine. Once I found out who it was I was shocked, but all ythe little pieces fell together and I saw how they could be the ones after her.

I loved that this book kept me on my toes and kept me guessing. The time passed so quickly and I was finished reading after a short period of time.

Make Me, Take Me (Entangled Brazen)

BOOK SUMMERY:

He’s every fantasy she’s ever had… Betsy Mouton knows that easy doesn’t last forever. She’s working her butt off to launch the Last Call Café so her family can leave the New Orleans bar business—and its heartaches—behind forever. That is, until the hottest one-night-stand of her life shows up next door, twice as uncompromising and two million times hotter, offering to buy the bar and send the Moutons to Easy Street.  Hotelier Quinton James has never forgotten the unbelievably hot night he and Betsy shared. Never forgotten how beautifully she submitted to him, or how he found the only peace he’s ever known in her arms. Now that Betsy is the only thing standing in the way of his new hotel, she’s the one in control. But there’s more at stake than her cafe or laying their past to rest—Quin wants a future. With her. All he has to do is convince her…one sensual command at a time.

MY REVIEW:

Entangled Publishing’s Brazen genre is never disappointed with it comes to being a hot read and Make Me, Take Me is no different. The relationship between the main characters, Betsy and Quin, was all about sex throughout the whole book.

There was a back story between Betsy and Quin and why they couldn’t allow themselves to trust each other. Even though there was more to the book and a lot of character development, I could not find a connection with the characters, which made the read a slow one.

I loved that there was the fairy tale side of the book; Betsy would refer to Quin as the Prince Charming she knew would leave her. I loved the whole party aspect, which was just like Cinderella. Who doesn’t want a night where she is invited to a ball and treated like a princess? I know I would love that!!

BOOK SUMMERY:

An opportunity of a lifetime. This is what Andi finds when she returns home to Callaway Cove on summer break. A chance to work for her literary idol Ford Delaney is up for grabs, and she’s willing to risk everything-her boyfriend, her best friends, and her education-to get it.

She’s positive this will be the key to reaching her dreams. But the moment she begins working for the reclusive author, Andi realizes there’s more to him than just a name. And once romantic sparks fly, Andi’s other relationships start to crumble, Ford’s fame comes back to haunt him, and the heat they generate will either forge a powerful, enduring love or threaten everything she holds dear.

MY REVIEW:

“Your family and friends are important to you. You wear your heart on your sleeve and you emotions, as well, which is why you are to easy to read.”

I think I enjoyed reading “Written on her Heart so much because I see a lot of myself in Andi, as a character she was so relatable and down to earth. There were somethings that I did not agree with, like her cheating on her boyfriend, but I think since I didn’t feel any connection between her and her boyfriend, it didn’t bother me so much. The connection I felt was between Andi and Ford, and I just wanted her to give into it. I just wished she would have broken up with her boyfriend and not cheated!!!!

Whoa, Andi’s friends were not at all friends to her. First, they never told her about the job she would have like, instead they both went for it on their own. Second, Rachel kept trying to steal Andi’s job from her. Not only was she trying to get the job, but also Ford, even after she sensed that Andi might have feelings for him. Third, this is more about Andi’s boyfriend, but he was such a jerk about not supporting his girlfriend.

I found the fact that the story involved writers was pretty interesting, as a writer Ford intrigued me. I like how h based some stories based on his life and didn’t hide that fact. He also seem to see something in Andi as a writer, at first I kind of thought he was going to steal her story and turn it into his own book.

This was such an easy flowing read that grabbed me from the beginning and before I knew it, I was done reading!!

BOOK SUMMERY:

Unfortunately, that client happens to be Declan McCabe. And it’s too bad someone wants him dead, because after he broke her heart ten years ago, Jessica would have cheerfully murdered him herself.

Declan has taken his dad’s not-so-reputable company and turned it around, and in the process, he’s attracted the attention of some vicious killers. The only perk is being reunited with Jessica, who Declan still wants so much he can barely see straight. But Jessica has a plan of her own. She’ll protect Declan. She’ll have unbelievably hot sex with him.  And when the job is finished, she’ll move on. Except that this time, Declan isn’t so willing to walk away…

MY REVIEW:

I have some mixed feelings about this book; I really enjoyed the bander between the two main characters, Jessica and Declan. I didn’t at all feel the connection between them though, what I did feel was lust.

Jess was a story leading lady and had the job of protecting Declan from a threat, but she ended up not only protecting him, but her heart as well, always afraid to get too close to him. I enjoyed that she was such a strong leading lady, that was set out to protect him.

I really enjoy second chance stories, but this one did give me the feeling that others have in the past. There were plenty of sexy and hot scenes between Jess and Declan.

Book Review: Silent Night by Kristen Strassel

Silent Night (Night Songs Collection, #4)

BOOK REVIEW:

“What girl deep down inside doesn’t fall for a good love story?”

Kyndra hasn’t had the best of luck lately, since her grandmother passed away one year ago; she has been kicked out of their old place. She now spends her night between living on the streets, staying at her drug- dealer boyfriend’s house and her best friend from high school’s house. On Christmas Eve she wonders into a mass after having nowhere to go, at least here she might feel a bit closer to her grandmother. While watching all the families passing by a man named Aidan approaches her claiming he knows her. After the mass Aidan brings her to his house for the night, here she finds comfort and safety, but is Aidan really telling her about his true self?

Aidan is an author of novels, but goes under the pen name Alison Duprois, these novels are a memoirs of his life. By documenting his search for the reincarnation of his love for the past three hundred years, he has become a best-selling author. Kyndra has always enjoyed reading Alison Duprois’ novels; she just didn’t know she would end up living one of them.

I feel like if it wasn’t for bad luck, Kyndra would have luck at all. Once Kyndra has a place to stay and decides to get her CNA to get her life in order, she gets fired from her current job. Once Kyndra received a job in a hospital after completing her CNA course she stumbles upon her mom, who has never been part of her life. She is completely torn on how she feels about the situation as well. Also, being in the relationship she is in with Aidan she ends up losing many people she once cared about. Although it may be for the best, it still took a toll on her.

I enjoyed the fact that although this was in the POV of Kyndra we were able to see some thoughts through Aidan’s eyes while Kyndra was reading his novels. I was able to truly get a sense of how he felt and how strong his attraction to her truly was.

I have to admit that do not read many vampire books, this is only my third one and I have yet to fall in love with a vampire character until now! He seemed so very different from all the others that I have read.

Also, I have not read any other novels in the Night Song Collection, but did not interfere with me enjoying this novel. I also hope Kristen Strassel will maybe write from Aidan’s point of view, I know I would really enjoy it!

Book Review: Play of Light by Debra Doxer

Play of Light

Title- Play of Light

Author- Debra Doxer

Synopsis

At fourteen, my life was perfect. The beach was my playground, and the boy who stole my heart lived just around the corner. But perfect never lasts. In one horrifying moment, I lost it all. My family was destroyed, and the boy I believed in turned his back on me. Paradise became a nightmare.

That was five years ago. Everything changed when we moved from our home by the sea. I’ve changed, and I don’t like who I’ve become. I miss the smiling, carefree beach girl who disappeared that terrible night. I want to find her again. I want to face the people we ran from so long ago. Most of all, I have to face Spencer. So I can prove that when he broke my heart, he didn’t break me.

But when I see him again, Spencer Pierce is no longer the boy from my memories. He’s now a man who could devastate me if I let him. He watches me when he thinks I’m not looking. There’s regret written on his face when he’s near. Each time I see him, my heart aches for what might have been, and I think his does too. How can I convince myself I’m over him when I suspect he never got over me?

MY REVIEW

Play of Light was a story about Sarah and Spencer whom shared a past, not only did the story dive into the characters present life, but also the past. Most stories that I read in this genre speak about the past relationship two people have together, but do not it really show what went on or events that conspired. Play of Light on the other hand spent several characters showing how Sarah felt about Spencer and how their relationship grew from strangers to friends. I think this allowed me to grow an attachment to both Spencer and Sarah.

There was a lot of mystery while reading this story; we never really knew what was going on with spencer and his uncle. I also like how at the end of the story there were a couple of events that I knew was coming. I kind of thought I knew what Spencer’s BIG secret was, but boy was a wrong and I am very glad I was.

This was definitely a nice simple romance novel and worth the read!

Eyes Turned Skyward

Title- Eyes Turned Skyward

Publisher- Entangled Publishing

Rating- 5 Stars

Amazon- http://goo.gl/RvvSrp

Eyes Turned Skyward starts when Paisley Donovan is on the beach with her friend Morgan when she lays eyes on Mr. California, who we later know as Jagger Bateman. Paisley of course thinks Jagger is attractive, but she has a boyfriend and knows she would be thins guys type. This one of Morgan’s friends places her in a situation where Jagger saves her life. Instantly we see the attraction they both have for each other. After saving her life Jagger and Paisley go on their separate ways, but not far from each other’s minds. After a run in at the library Paisley works at the two of them decide to be friends, but they are each hiding huge secrets.

There were times I just sat there pleading with the characters to fess up and explain what is really going on in their lives, but of course they didn’t until it all came out at the wrong time. There were times I think Paisley kept saying that she had a boyfriend, not to convince anyone but herself. I have to admit she made me angry a couple of times but in the end that is what made me love her so much. Jagger on the other hand, had the BIGGEST heart; he did so much for the people around him and never asked for a thing in return. It also helped that he was beyond sexy!!

Rebecca Yarros did a great job developing her characters, I not only loved Paisley and Jaggar but all the supporting characters as well. As much as Will sort of annoyed me and at one point I thought he might not be faithful to Paisley (but in a way I guess he wasn’t), I would absolutely love to see a book about him, and get a little more insight on him. Also I REALLY want to know more about Gayson, this guy was just full of mystery and I NEED to know more. As for Josh, I know there is already a book about him and Ember and of course I haven’t read it, but now it is on my MUST READ list!!!!

This defiantly needs to be on everyone’s MUST READ list!
