His Last Redemption

Title- His Last Redemption

Author- Clarissa Yip

Publisher- Entangled Ignite

Release Date- March 10, 2015

Amazon-   http://goo.gl/N6XVVG

BOOK SUMMERY:

First comes marriage. Then comes murder…

Lauren Burke waited fifteen months and twenty-three days for her divorce to be finalized. Instead, her ex-husband went one step further—he turned up dead. And the detective working on the case is none other than Kane Hollister—the man who ran off over three years ago and shattered Lauren’s heart into a zillion pieces…

It looks like Lauren, but she’s no longer the carefree girl Kane once knew. And yet he can’t deny the awareness that heats his blood at the sight of her. But when the death threats begin, Kane realizes that the killer has a new target…and it’s Lauren. Now he must protect the woman he’s always loved—and always hurt—from a vicious murderer. And when the sparks between them ignite, Lauren will have to make a choice between her life… or her heart!

MY THOUGHTS:

His Last Redemption was a second chance suspenseful romance. I like a little mystery in the books that I read from time to time, and that is what drew me to this book. I think that is what kept me reading this book as well; I wanted to know who the Pearl Killer was. Yes, there is a story line other than that, but I wasn’t a fan of it as much.

There was something about Lauren that made me annoyed. I’m not sure if it was because it too her three years to leave a man that was cheating on her while she was giving him money to build his company or hot/coldness towards Kane. Both Kane and Lauren opened up to each other to allow themselves to be happy.

This was a very quick read as well and I think that it can be made into a series if the author chooses to write a book about another one of the characters. I can see a book about Ryan or even about Lauren. I thought Ryan was funny and I think his book would be great.

Fading Out (Living Heartwood, #3)

Title- Fading Out

Author- Trisha Wolfe

Release Date- February 18, 2015

BOOK SUMMERY:

Love means fading out so another shines brighter.

Right clothes. Right school. Right fiancé. As a Wyndemere, Arian’s expected to abide by the rules. The most important: be perfect. But Arian’s seemingly flawless life is far from it. An embarrassing expulsion from her parents’ alma mater spirals an already unhealthy obsession out of control, exposing a dark truth.

Faced with having to attend a small private college after a stint in rehab, Arian’s just ready to coast under the radar and repair some of the wreckage, but her father’s looming control is like a vise choking off her air supply.

When a run-in with Braxton’s beloved star quarterback, Ryder Nash, puts Arian squarely in the crosshairs of his devoted teammates, the last of her controlled, orderly world unhinges. As the pranks and paybacks escalate, Arian and Ryder’s rivalry takes a passionate turn. And once Arian glimpses beneath the all-star-athlete exterior Ryder projects, she realizes he’s far more than just a jock.

As their relationship intensifies, outside forces feel the threat. Outrunning their pasts doesn’t mean history won’t repeat itself, but Ryder can’t let that happen. He’s just one Championship game away from breaking the mold. Only one moment, one choice, might change everything.

Told from both Arian’s and Ryder’s POV. New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers 17 years of age and older.

 MY THOUGHTS:

“And its the imperfections that make you, you. Don’t kill off your heartwood- the imperfect, flawed, dark part of you…. because even a tree need its heart to live, Ari. Without it, it would just be a hollow shell.” She twists her lips into a smile. ” Besides, without the bad, you cant enjoy the good. It’s all about balance.”

Fading Out is the third book in the Heartwood Series and again it did not disappoint!!! So far, I have read three of Trisha Wolfe’s books and I can’t get enough of them. She is able to tell such emotional heart wrenching stories that I can’t get enough of!

I think Trisha made Ari a character that most people can relate to, even if they do not have an eating disorder. Ari wanted to please her father and through that she developed an anxiety, it also seemed as though she was a bit depressed. Ryder was able to get her to forget about her problems, at least for a little bit, and while she was with him, she was happy.

Ryder also had his own problems and was dealing with his own problem; his past with Alyssa and if he was truly happy playing football, but just as Ryder brought the best out in Ari, she did the same in him. I like that both characters went through such growth figuring out what made them happy.

I like that this book had duel POV, I always love to see what is going through the minds of both main characters.

Again, Trisha was able to insert characters from the previous two books and place them into this on perfectly! It didn’t seem forces but seems to fit together like a puzzle and the epilogue was just perfect!!

I cannot wait to see what Ms. Wolfe has in store for the fourth book in the series.

BOOK SUMMERY:

Camille and Drake are on the run from the head of the Centaur Council, seeking the mythical pasture of Thessaly and a family heirloom that may keep them safe. As their journey progresses from the rolling hills of Ireland to the snow covered forests of South Dakota, Cami learns more about her mother’s secrets, including a twin brother and a Centaur legacy that puts a death warrant on her entire family.

Camille and Drake don’t know who to trust or where to hide. Camille’s family is quick to come to her aid, but who among them can be trusted?

A supernatural benefactor forces Drake to choose between being the man he wants to be and the Centaur warrior Camille needs him to be.

 MY THOUGHTS:

I think by now we all know by now how much I love reading novels by Nancy. She has a way in engaging me thought out the whole book. I don’t think of her books, just as romances, they are so much more. The romance is in the book yes, but I also think there’s an amazing plot in each of her books. Time flies by while reading her books and before I know it, I’m finished!

Centaur Legacy starts where we left off Drake and Camille are on the run hiding from her grandmother. I love these two together; I am so glad that they ended up together. Though out this book, I felt their connection even more. They are definitely a team that I am rooting for.

We learned a little more about Camille’s brother, Beau, and I really enjoyed his story line. Beau went through a lot and had a lot to figure out and I like how things ended for him. It was nice to be able to relate to the other characters in the book through their storylines; Nancy does a really great job in having the multiple POV to accomplish this.

I have always been a huge fan of mythology and learning about them. I think that is another reason why I like these books so much. Nancy did a great job incorporating more if it in Centaur Legacy. She did this by not only having centaurs in the book, but also having the character interact and refer to numerous gods.

Title– Sleeping Tom

BOOK SUMMERY:

Hitchhiking is a bad idea but Caden is desperate.
When she accepts a ride from the first car to come by she meets Gabriel. He’s her age, hot, and the closest thing she has to a savior. Problem is, he is a total jerk. With nowhere to go, Caden convinces Gabriel to let her stay with him for one night. He reluctantly lends a couch.

That night Caden wakes up to strange noises. Concerned, she rushes into Gabriel’s room, already anticipating his bad temper. Instead, he’s kind, sweet, and suspiciously harmless—nothing like the man who gave her a ride. He seems like a different person altogether, and claims he is. By night he is Tom, and by day he is Gabriel. Caden finds herself drawn to the mysteries hidden in his eyes.

For Gabriel, Caden is an annoying mistake. One night turns into many, and despite all his anger towards her, she stays. She even seems to accept him and his flaws, but he still doesn’t trust her—is she staying for him, or has she already discovered more than he’s willing to share?

MY THOUGHTS:

E. V Fairfall has done it again! I have been lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sleeping Tom from her, and I have to say I loved it! This book drew me in from the very beginning, not to mention it has an amazing cover as well

This book was such a great concept, it is always interesting to read stories about people with multiple personalities, this is the third one that I have read, and by far my favorite one. E. V Fairfall was able to write such a simplistic story, but it grabs you in.

As I read the story I was a bit conflicted just as Caden was; Tom was defiantly more like a child and a friend then Gabriel was. Gabriel was someone she was attracted to and maybe even loved and all she wanted to do was to help Gabriel. I’m not sure that I liked the anger that Gabriel had at times, kind of seem to have aspects of Caden’s ex Sean, but never laid a hand on Caden, which I was very happy about. After finishing this story, I still have so many questions that have been left unanswered.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that I have to wait to read the second installment, Waking Gabriel!

Cut Me Free

Title- Cut Me Free

Author- J. R. Johansson

Publisher- Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group

BOOK SUMMERY:

Seventeen-year-old Charlotte barely escaped from her abusive parents. Her little brother, Sam, wasn’t as lucky. Now she’s trying to begin the new life she always dreamed of for them, but never thought she’d have to experience alone. She’s hired a techie-genius with a knack for forgery to remove the last ties to her old life. But while she can erase her former identity, she can’t rid herself of the memories. And her troubled history won’t let her ignore the little girl she sees one day in the park. The girl with the bruises and burn marks.

That’s when Charlotte begins to receive the messages. Threatening notes left in her apartment–without a trace of entry. And they’re addressed to Piper, her old name. As the messages grow in frequency, she doesn’t just need to uncover who is leaving them; she needs to stop whoever it is before anyone else she loves ends up dead.

MY THOUGHTS:

There are not many books that I need to take a couple minutes to process them after reading, but this was one of them! Cut Me Free is a dark, gripping story about human trafficking and abuse. Piper was locked in her attic with her little brother by her parents and they were physically abused by them. This concept reminded me of the story, “Flowers in the Attic”, and this could have been what happened if there were only two children and only one escaped.

After recusing a girl who was sold to an abusive man, Piper has been finding threatening boxes with a note inside each of them. Throughout most of the book Piper tries to figure out who is leaving these boxes while keeping her new friend, Cam, away from it all. I will admit the beginning of the book was a bit slow moving for me, but once Piper saved Sanda I was completely engaged and flew through this book!

I like that this book stayed true to the YA genre, there were no inappropriate scenes between Cam and Piper. Although, sometimes I got frustrated with them, but I understand that Piper came from an abusive household so it was hard for her to trust anyone. Cam’s cousin, Lily, kind of made it seem as though Cam falls for the young girls her helps often, which made me dismiss his sincerity at times. Although, the ending was perfect.

I do recommend this book to anyone who would like get chills and a thrill while reading it.

Click Date Repeat

Title- Click Date & Repeat

Author– K.J Farnhan

Book Summery:

These days, finding love online is as commonplace as ordering that coveted sweater. But back in 2003, the whole concept of internet dating was still quite new, with a stigma attached to it that meant those who were willing to test the waters faced a fair amount of skepticism from friends and family. Such is the case for Chloe Thompson, a restless 20-something tired of the typical dating scene and curious about what she might find inside her parents’ computer. With two serious but failed relationships behind her, Chloe isn’t even entirely sure what she’s looking for. She just knows that whatever it is, she wants to find it. Based loosely on author K. J. Farnham’s real-life online dating experiences, Chloe’s foray into online dating involves a head-first dive into a world of matches, ice breakers and the occasional offer of dick pics, all while Chloe strives to shake herself of the ex who just refuses to disappear. Will she simultaneously find herself and “the one” online, or will the ever-growing pile of humorous and downright disastrous dates only prove her friends and family right? There’s only one way to find out… Click. Date. Repeat.

My Book Review:

My Final thoughts before falling asleep have to do with what I learned this time around. I can’t change any of it now. The timing just wasn’t right, and you know what they say….. Timing is everything”

K. J. Farnham took us on a journey with online dating through the eyes of Chloe Thompson. I like how down to earth Chloe was. Yes, she had some standards when it came to dating and picking out the guys that she would meet in person, but who wouldn’t? Chloe was able to move past some of these standards, showing how much growth she went through. I also liked how K.J Farnham had some of the other characters show growth, I think that Chloe’s friends learned some things as well. Then there are all the different guys that Chloe met and dated. I have to admit I did like two of the guys a lot and they seemed like such great guys.

The ending was a little bit of a surprise and I wish there was a little more to it. I would love to see where Chloe is now and how she is doing with the man she chose. This story was a great chick lit book which had some really great moments!!

BOOK SUMMERY:

The wrong man never felt so right…

Ex-fighter Reed Miller has been secretly lusting over his best friend’s girl for months, but he refuses to jeopardize a friendship over a woman—especially one who doesn’t like him all that much. Now that Darcy’s on the market again, it’s even more imperative to stick to his strict hands-off policy. But the sizzling attraction between them is too powerful to ignore, and once he’s had a taste of her…all bets are off.

Darcy Grant is tired of walking the straight and narrow path. She’s on the hunt for passion, and there’s no denying Reed is just the man to give it to her. Although she has no interest in dating a bad boy, and certainly not her ex’s best friend, it’s impossible not to melt beneath Reed’s skillful touch. Now it’s just a matter of setting a few ground rules—and hoping her rule-breaking, sweet-talking bad boy agrees to follow them. But if she lets Reed into her bed, does she stand a chance of keeping him out of her heart?

BOOK REVIEW:

One Night of Scandal is the second installment in the After Hours series, but this time we learn a little more about bad boy Reed and A. J’s girlfriend Darcy. I have to confess I might like Reed and Darcy’s story more than Gage and Skyler’s, and I adored them! I felt that there was something between Reed and Darcy in the first book, so it was really easy to feel their chemistry right off the bat in this book. I also think I related more to Darcy, she a teacher and some things she said were something I can see myself saying like, “How do I even phrase it? What does Ecstasy even come in? Hits? Pills? Fingers, you know like whiskey?”.

Again this installment had enough smut in this book for people that enjoy it and a story line that makes you love every single character. I can’t not wait to see what is in store for A.J next.

BOOK EXCERPT:

“Darcy, wait. Seriously. Come on, wait up.”

She kept up the brisk pace, ignoring Reed’s increasingly annoyed shouts from behind

her. Her heels snapped on the pavement in an angry click-clack as she barreled down

the sidewalk. She’d taken five more steps when a heavy hand clapped on her shoulder.

“Must you always be so damn difficult?” His aggravated rumble heated the back of her

neck.

Darcy twirled around to face him. “Dude, just go away.”

His lips twitched. “Can I at least apologize first, dude?”

“No.”

He grasped her arm before she could walk away. “What do you mean, no?”

“Should I say it in a different language so you can understand? Fine. Non. Nein. Niet.

Nej. Nai. Um—”

“Nai?”

“That’s Japanese,” she said haughtily. “Duh.”

“Do I even want to ask why you can say the word no in so many languages?”

She blew a strand of hair out of her eyes. “I’m a teacher, Reed. I know things.”

His deep chuckle sent an unexpected—and extremely unwelcome—shiver scurrying

through her. Before tonight, she’d never felt anything even close to warmth or

awareness toward this man, but somehow her system had shortcircuited, and now she

couldn’t stop staring at his mouth. His firm and surprisingly sensual mouth. And all that

dark stubble sweeping across his strong jaw… She wanted to run her fingertips over it

and feel those bristles scratching her skin.

No, you don’t.

Right. Of course she didn’t.

God, what on earth did the Krib’s bartenders put in their drinks? Those shooters were

obviously messing with her head.

One Night of Sin (After Hours, #1)

Title- One Night of Sin

Author- Elle Kennedy

BOOK SUMMERY:

Sometimes it’s good to be bad…

When it comes to sex, good girl Skyler Thompson always plays it safe, choosing stable and sedate over wild and thrilling. She doesn’t do one-night-stands, but one look at sinfully sexy Gage Holt and she’s willing to reconsider. He makes her want to be bad for once in her life, and she’s prepared to take what she wants.

Danger follows former MMA fighter Gage Holt like a shadow. Despite his successes as part owner of Sin, an exclusive nightclub in Boston, Gage can’t risk getting involved with a woman, especially one as sweet as Skyler. Still, he can’t resist a taste—and it’s so damn good he has to see her again.

As addicted as he is to her, Gage knows there’s no future for him and Skyler—not with his past lurking in the dark corners of an MMA cage. But Skylar’s tougher than she looks, and she’s ready to fight for her man.

BOOK REVIEW:

Being that One Night of Sin is under 200 pages it was a quick read, but that doesn’t mean Ms. Kennedy didn’t make us fall in love with the book any less. There was enough smut in this book for people that enjoy it and a story line that makes you love every single character. I kind of like that there was no big drama in this story, Gage and his three best friends are owners of a new club called Sin, when he has a run in with a beautiful girl named Skyler, he can’t deny the attraction.

As characters I loved both Gage and Skyer! I like that Skyler was the good girl and Gage brought out the bad in her. Ms. Kennedy also allowed a little glimpse to the character that will be in the next books and I must say, I think that is something more going on with Reed than he likes to admit!!

BOOK EXCEPT:

He rummaged in his pocket for his e-cigarette, lifted his head—and froze.

His blue-eyed angel sat eight feet away. Slender body up on the wooden crate next to the staff

door, chestnut-brown hair falling over one shoulder, dress riding up her thighs to reveal long,

silky legs.

He sucked in a breath. Lord, she was even more appealing up close. Not beautiful in the

Hollywood sense, but intriguingly attractive in a very real way. The enormous blue eyes were

her best feature, and her mouth was just pouty enough to conjure up the image of plump lips

wrapped around his dick.

Gage cleared his throat. “You shouldn’t be out here.”

She jumped at the sound of his voice, head swiveling and gaze flying to his. She instantly

hopped off the crate, smoothing out the front of her dress as a frown creased her lips. “Why

not?”

“A pretty girl all alone in an alley at midnight—I don’t think it needs much more explanation than

that.” He inhaled a quick drag of the e-cigarette. The mint-flavored vapor was no substitute for a

real smoke, and he wasn’t sure why he even bothered with it.

“I just needed some air.” Her voice was huskier than he’d imagined it would be. Sexier. “I’ll go

back inside soon.”

Wait—she’d only come outside for air? And her date had been asking about prostitutes in her

absence? Wow. Real stand-up guy.

“It’s so crowded in there,” she added.

“Nightclubs usually are,” he said dryly.

“Yeah, I guess they are. I’m not much of a clubber, but Mick wouldn’t take no for an answer. He

said I haven’t lived until I’ve gone to Sin.” A sigh slipped out. “It’s our first date…”

Gage waited for her to continue. When she didn’t, he filled in the rest. “And you’re not at all into

him.”

“Why do you say that?”

His gaze slid back to hers, slow and purposeful. “Because if you were, you wouldn’t have been

eye-fucking me all night.”

Her breath hitched, cheeks growing the most appealing shade of pink.

He had to laugh. “Am I wrong?”

The denial he’d expected didn’t come. “No, you’re not wrong.”

Book Summery:

Sophie Richards has been looking forward to a much-needed girls’ night out: a Rolling Stones tribute-band concert, a few drinks, a distraction from her grueling nursing shifts in acute care. But when her best friend bails, Sophie gets stuck with a blind date.

Although Brett Nicholson may be the hottest carpenter alive, and Sophie may technically be single, she isn’t exactly on the market. Six years ago she found The One. He was everything Sophie dreamed a man could be—and then she lost him. In an instant, her whole life changed, and she forgot all about happily ever after.

But as she gets to know Brett, Sophie starts to wonder about the future for the first time. With a broken heart still clouding her mind, jumping into a new relationship feels impossible. When she’s in his arms, walking away feels even harder. Now Sophie faces an impossible choice: living in the past or choosing love in the here and now.

Book Review:

“I turn toward the trail, and make a new path on my way out of the woods”

Every time I read the title to his book, I start singing the song, to my delight the book was named after the Rolling Stone’s song. To make it even better each chapter was named after other Rolling Stone’s songs.

Now to the story and the characters in this book, I loved it all!!! I saw so much of myself in Sophie, from dating a boy full of tattoos to losing him, just not in the same way. I even know of a Brett that has blue eyes and is as sweet as the Brett in this story, I think the fact that I was able to relate to this story so much made me like the story more than I would have if I didn’t.

I like that Chelsey Krause had flash backs within her story but I think they might have been a bit too long. I caught myself loving Sophie’s relationship with Bret so much, that I could wait for the story to go back to present day. I also felt as though there were enough scenes of Brett and Sophie together. Once the two became a couple there was a lot of, “weeks later”, “days later”. Do not get me wrong I loved all Sophie’s interactions with her family and friends, but maybe they were a bit long and could have been cut shorter to make more pages for the Brett/ Sophie relationship.

Sophie grew as a character in my eyes by putting behind the past and figuring out what she wanted in not only her personal but also her professional life. I would love to many see another book to see where she has ended up, even though this book ended in a way the reader will be completely satisfied.

BOOK SUMMERY:

Could it really be possible that somewhere in time, the perfect paradox could be created? Does romance really stand a chance, could it ever flourish when cast between so many intricacies and broken lives? How could one person, Nell, a nineteenth century governess unknowingly cause so much devastation?

As Nell’s world opens up, we follow her on her complex journey, where she discovers love, loss and betrayal, and becomes forced to play a dangerous game from which there appears no escape.

An intricate family plot slowly begins to unravel in which she finds herself centre stage. She was never supposed to leave Haunchcroft estate … and he will do everything in his power to keep her there…

Could a possible rip in time be the salvation that Nell seeks?

“I find you disturbingly beautiful,” are the contradictory words bestowed upon the governess by her master.

Mr Buchannan’s infatuation is a shadow from which Nell cannot escape. The feelings he holds for her are not reciprocated, and though his lust soon turns to love, Nell’s feelings towards him turn to hatred. Dreams and a love of literature are Nell’s only escapism from the downtrodden life she leads as a governess in the nineteenth century.

One night, an intruder on the estate catches Nell off guard, but she gives chase; a decision that leads her through an opening in time between the centuries, where she finds equality, true friendship and a completely different outlook on life.

BOOK REVIEW:

“His soft words melted into her ear ‘You must have no fear of me loosening, for I shall never let you go'”

When I first saw this book I though, WOW an amazing cover and I can’t wait to see what this book is about. Then I read the summery and thought it would be extremely interesting reading a story that involved time traveling; this was the first book that I have experienced with this.

There were three different time periods that the book traveled to; 1813, 1968 and 2014, all three very different from the other. During this time, the main character Nell had gone through a huge amount of growth, from being a naive woman to one who travel through time and found out new things about her life and what life could be in the future. I even think that I had seen some growth within Mr. Buchannan, who was very interesting to figure out.

I like that this book kept me guessing, I never knew what was going to happen next. All the plot twists were quite the shockers!!! I believe this is what made the book so enjoyable to me. I have read many books where I have not been shocked and surprised by the events that occurred and the ending, but this one definitely did.
