DOING IT FOR LOVE
All About Love #1
Cassie Mae
Releasing Sept 29th, 2015
Loveswept

Cassie Mae’s charming, sexy new
novel, perfect for fans of Emma Chase, puts a steamy twist on modern love as
one bride-to-be tries to put the spark back in the bedroom—by any means
necessary.
Elizabeth Fanning’s life looks
pretty perfect, judging by the diamond ring on her finger. Her fiancé, Landon,
is sweet, handsome, and hilarious. The trouble is, before they’ve even tied the
knot, their sex life has gone from mind-blowing to “meh”—and Liz isn’t ready to
be part of an old married couple. After a cathartic call to her best friend,
Liz comes up with a brilliant idea. She and Landon may never be able to
re-create the magic of their first time, but how amazing would their wedding
night be if everything below the neck was off-limits until then?
Liz thinks it’ll bring them closer
together. Landon’s convinced she’ll cave first. So they raise
the stakes: Whoever lasts longer gets to pick their honeymoon destination. With
her heart set on the Bahamas and Landon fighting for snowbound Utah, Liz simply
has to win. But pretty soon, her body is screaming for attention, and Landon’s
never seemed so far away. Has Liz’s experiment backfired? Losing their little competition
would be frustrating—but the one thing she can’t afford to lose is him.

My Thoughts:

Doing it For Love was quite the enjoyable read. I don’t read many books where the hero/heroine are already together and are facing very realistic problems. I like that Landon and Liz’s issues were surrounding real life problems that pretty much everyone can relate to. There were also plenty of parts in this book that had me laughing.

This book also gives a reader a glimpse on what happens after that HEA. Yes, other books leave you with the HEA, but it might not always peaches and cream after the bookends.

I really liked Landon, he was such a sweet guy, I kept thinking that he was going to do something in the book to piss me off, but he never did. Liz was also very likable and down to earth. Landon and Liz’s friends were quite an interesting bunch, and I would love to see some of them get their own book!

If you are looking for a fun read, then this book is for you!

Mad Mondays: Abby Crossing by Ophelia London

Age group: New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Scheduled to release: Originally released March 2013

My Thoughts:

I started reading Ophelia London’s work when she wrote the Definitely Maybe Series and I was really excited to job the review tour for The Abby Road Series. Just like the other book that I have read, I enjoyed the story as a whole.

There was just one thing that I did not like about this one, at first I felt a huge connection to the characters and loving their romance and all of a sudden the book jumped three months in advance. So, I felt like something was missing and I lost a bit of the connection. Then their story started back up again and I started to feel the connection again.

I am a reader who loves to read stories where the main characters grow. I think Abby grew a bit in the end, but it took her a very long time to lead up to that moment. She kept getting pushed around and I just wanted her to see what was truly going on in her life. Then there is Todd, I liked him but I cannot believe he did what he did and never looked back. I did love them together and I cannot wait to read the next book!

As a huge fan of music it was interesting reading a story about a pop star and the struggles she was going through. She had a lot to deal with starting with her manager and how he treated her. It was completely awful but I know things like that happen.

I also like that all of the chapters were names of different Beatles songs! It was nice since Abby was such a huge fan it was incorporated in that way.

BLURB:

It’s been exactly one day since rock star Abigail Kelly fled her chaotic life in L.A. to her sister’s home in Florida. One day without her demanding manager, paparazzi, ridiculous tour schedules, and recording sessions. For the first time in five years, she has the summer off. To be anonymous. A summer to not think about losing her brother…or that her once-normal life has turned into a mess of panic and heartbreak.
But all it takes is one twist of fateto enter a stranger’s surf shop while trying to dodge some fansfor everything to change.
Because the shop owner happens to be a really cute guy with an amazing laugh. With Todd, an ex-Marine sniper turned surfer, she feels things she hasn’t felt for a long time. Possibly never. But when the real world comes crashing back in, Abby is caught between the superstar she’s become…and the painfully real human being she longs to be.

Blurb:
Todd Camford went from Marine sniper to owning a beachfront surf shop in Florida, and he couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, the programming from his training hasn’t quite been eliminated. His ex called him an unfeeling cyborg, but he’s a free-flying, unfettered hawk, damn it. Relationships outside of family are out of the question…
And then she comes into his shop.
Everyone knows who Abigail Kelly is—mega rockstar, tabloid fixture. Still, nothing prepares Todd for Abby’s smoky gray eyes or the swift breathlessness of their instant chemistry. He’d be an ass (or possibly insane) to think he can resist her. Just for today, maybe he’ll keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t get mobbed. Because really, how much damage could one day with a super-hot, kick-ass celebrity really do?

Waiting for April

Title- Waiting for April

Author- Jamie Loren

Publisher- Momentum

Amazon-   http://goo.gl/37s1qC

BOOK SUMMERY:

April Fletcher has died nineteen times… but she doesn’t know it.

As far as April is concerned, she’s just a normal seventeen-year-old, looking forward to spending spring break with her friends and going to college in the fall. April doesn’t know she has never lived past her eighteenth birthday, nor does she realize that Scott Parker, her best friend, is actually her childhood sweetheart and fiancé from her very first life.
For nineteen-year-old Scott Parker, spending quality time with his soul mate has proved difficult ever since her tragic death in 1729. Since then he has lost her an additional eighteen times—each of her deaths more devastating than the last, and each of her births wiping the slate of her memory clean. Unable to save her but unwilling to give up, Scott has to hide the fact he’s immortal—and will be until April confesses her love again.
But this time, things have changed. April has denied her feelings for him, is dating someone else, and with her eighteenth birthday fast approaching, their friendship is falling to pieces. Fearing their souls are irrevocably drifting apart, Scott must race against the clock to win her heart and save her life.
Or risk losing her forever.

MY THOUGHTS:

This is the first book that I have read that involved reincarnation and it had me very interested in from the very first page. I like that there was a bit of a mystery within the story; why is Scott immortal and why does April keep dying but to return with the same name each time. I think that Jamie Loren did a great job with keeping it all a secret until the very end. I was not excepting the story to end the way it did.

The love that Scott had for April was amazing! I only care what was best for her. When he thought it would help, he would stay away. He had so much devotion and patience. April was of course drawn to him and since she doesn’t remember him from her past lives, she’s not sure why. I like that this story was told in a duel POV. I was able to understand what was going on in both of their heads and how each of them felt for each other.

When I first started looking at this book, I thought it was young adult book. I think it can still be classified as that after reading it, but just mature audience maybe 17 and up. Maybe borderline New Adult.

Book Review: Fading Out by Trisha Wolfe

Fading Out (Living Heartwood, #3)

Title- Fading Out

Author- Trisha Wolfe

Release Date- February 18, 2015

Amazon-   http://goo.gl/iz2QAQ

BOOK SUMMERY:

Love means fading out so another shines brighter.

Right clothes. Right school. Right fiancé. As a Wyndemere, Arian’s expected to abide by the rules. The most important: be perfect. But Arian’s seemingly flawless life is far from it. An embarrassing expulsion from her parents’ alma mater spirals an already unhealthy obsession out of control, exposing a dark truth.

Faced with having to attend a small private college after a stint in rehab, Arian’s just ready to coast under the radar and repair some of the wreckage, but her father’s looming control is like a vise choking off her air supply.

When a run-in with Braxton’s beloved star quarterback, Ryder Nash, puts Arian squarely in the crosshairs of his devoted teammates, the last of her controlled, orderly world unhinges. As the pranks and paybacks escalate, Arian and Ryder’s rivalry takes a passionate turn. And once Arian glimpses beneath the all-star-athlete exterior Ryder projects, she realizes he’s far more than just a jock.

As their relationship intensifies, outside forces feel the threat. Outrunning their pasts doesn’t mean history won’t repeat itself, but Ryder can’t let that happen. He’s just one Championship game away from breaking the mold. Only one moment, one choice, might change everything.

Told from both Arian’s and Ryder’s POV. New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers 17 years of age and older.

 MY THOUGHTS:

“And its the imperfections that make you, you. Don’t kill off your heartwood- the imperfect, flawed, dark part of you…. because even a tree need its heart to live, Ari. Without it, it would just be a hollow shell.” She twists her lips into a smile. ” Besides, without the bad, you cant enjoy the good. It’s all about balance.”

Fading Out is the third book in the Heartwood Series and again it did not disappoint!!! So far, I have read three of Trisha Wolfe’s books and I can’t get enough of them. She is able to tell such emotional heart wrenching stories that I can’t get enough of!

I think Trisha made Ari a character that most people can relate to, even if they do not have an eating disorder. Ari wanted to please her father and through that she developed an anxiety, it also seemed as though she was a bit depressed. Ryder was able to get her to forget about her problems, at least for a little bit, and while she was with him, she was happy.

Ryder also had his own problems and was dealing with his own problem; his past with Alyssa and if he was truly happy playing football, but just as Ryder brought the best out in Ari, she did the same in him. I like that both characters went through such growth figuring out what made them happy.

I like that this book had duel POV, I always love to see what is going through the minds of both main characters.

Again, Trisha was able to insert characters from the previous two books and place them into this on perfectly! It didn’t seem forces but seems to fit together like a puzzle and the epilogue was just perfect!!

I cannot wait to see what Ms. Wolfe has in store for the fourth book in the series.

Book Review: Losing Track by Trisha Wolfe

Losing Track (Living Heartwood, #2)

Title- Losing Track

Author– Trisha Wolfe

Publisher– Smashwords

Amazon-   http://goo.gl/pRNrcb

BOOK SUMMERY:

Sometimes you have to lose your way before finding the right track.

The roar of a bike engine. The vibration between her thighs. The feel of cool darkness kissing her skin as she coasts along twisty back roads at night—Melody Lachlan lives for these things. Ever since Mel and her best friend Darla escaped their small, backwoods town, they’ve traveled the countryside in search of fast rides, tatted bikers, and good times.

A self-proclaimed poet and lover of all things free, Mel views her life as one long bike ride—with pit stops along the way to numb the pain. But she never saw herself as a junkie. Party as hard as you ride. That’s her motto…until a tragic night steals her soul. Then she’s forced to delve below the surface, to where her demons rage.

When she meets recovered drug addict Boone Randall, she’s more likely to deck him than kiss his dimple-adorable face. She doesn’t want his help; doesn’t want to own up to her part in that night. She just wants to do her time and keep her promise to her friend. Yet Boone challenges Mel, and soon she doesn’t mind sharing the road. Only when Boone’s own secret demons threaten their newfound, fragile security, Mel’s course becomes rocky, and she must decide if letting her well-worn track marks fade is worth finding a new path.

Told from Dual point of view from Melody and Boone, this is a New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers seventeen years of age and older.

MY THOUGHTS:

“I thought I was like the heartwood of a tree, the dead part. But there’s a very special heartwood that’s anything but dead- it lives. A living anomy that flourishes in the midst of so much decay, rot, and ruin. The destruction breaking down the tree doesn’t touch this. It fights back and it wins. Even thrives. And the reward is something so striking, nature has to stop its hands of time just to acknowledge that one breathless beautifully stubborn tree”

Losing Track was a heart wrenching emotional story and the second installment in the Heartwood series. Trisha Wolfe did a great job showing the harsh world of drug addiction through her main characters Melody, and Boone. She was also able to show what happens through Darla and Jesse, and the ways they all lost themselves. I love that this book shows how it’s not easy to overcome addiction and how easy it is to relapse.

As a character Melody was a little hard to relate to, not sure if it was hard attitude, but it didn’t stop me from liking her. I was rooting for her from the very beginning and only hoped once she got clean, she would go back to the MC and drugs, but stay with Boone. I think Melody grew a lot during the story and where she ends up is fantastic! I adored Boone a lot, I think he had a huge heart and just wanted to be with Melody. He of course had his own demons and began working through them in this story.

Of course I read The Darkest Past and was so happy when we were able to see Sam and Holden in this book. I like where they ended up and how she remained in Mel’s life.

I always love reading epilogues and this was my favorite that I have EVER read!!! Where the main characters end up is so perfect. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen in Ari in book three!

Sleeping Tom

Title– Sleeping Tom

Author– E. V Fairfall

Publisher- R Mind

Release Date– February 14, 2015

Amazon-   http://goo.gl/5iegSC

BOOK SUMMERY:

Hitchhiking is a bad idea but Caden is desperate.
When she accepts a ride from the first car to come by she meets Gabriel. He’s her age, hot, and the closest thing she has to a savior. Problem is, he is a total jerk. With nowhere to go, Caden convinces Gabriel to let her stay with him for one night. He reluctantly lends a couch.

That night Caden wakes up to strange noises. Concerned, she rushes into Gabriel’s room, already anticipating his bad temper. Instead, he’s kind, sweet, and suspiciously harmless—nothing like the man who gave her a ride. He seems like a different person altogether, and claims he is. By night he is Tom, and by day he is Gabriel. Caden finds herself drawn to the mysteries hidden in his eyes.

For Gabriel, Caden is an annoying mistake. One night turns into many, and despite all his anger towards her, she stays. She even seems to accept him and his flaws, but he still doesn’t trust her—is she staying for him, or has she already discovered more than he’s willing to share?

MY THOUGHTS:

E. V Fairfall has done it again! I have been lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sleeping Tom from her, and I have to say I loved it! This book drew me in from the very beginning, not to mention it has an amazing cover as well

This book was such a great concept, it is always interesting to read stories about people with multiple personalities, this is the third one that I have read, and by far my favorite one. E. V Fairfall was able to write such a simplistic story, but it grabs you in.

As I read the story I was a bit conflicted just as Caden was; Tom was defiantly more like a child and a friend then Gabriel was. Gabriel was someone she was attracted to and maybe even loved and all she wanted to do was to help Gabriel. I’m not sure that I liked the anger that Gabriel had at times, kind of seem to have aspects of Caden’s ex Sean, but never laid a hand on Caden, which I was very happy about. After finishing this story, I still have so many questions that have been left unanswered.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that I have to wait to read the second installment, Waking Gabriel!

Excerpt

Running lights on the floor illuminated the interior of the bus just enough to keep her from falling and breaking her neck on her way to the kitchenette. She reached out and felt around for the switch under the cabinets that lit up the area above the sink. She had just flicked it on when Trace’s bedroom door opened.
Her heart stuttered and Kylie froze. If the blonde from the bar was in there with him, Kylie was taking her ass to that Winnebago dressed just as she was.
Taking a few deep breaths to brace herself, she turned. Trace stood in the doorway, his dark shirtless figure making her heart race.
“Couldn’t sleep,” she said softly. He just stared at her, reminding her with his scorching gaze that she was dressed in a thin nightshirt that barely reached her thighs. “No company tonight?” she asked, doing her best to keep her voice light, unaffected.
Trace said nothing as he stalked towards her slowly, the force of his stare backing her against the counter.
“Trace,” she said softly as he came close enough to touch.
Still nothing. Just his eyes burning into hers as his bare chest expanded with each breath. His hair was a mess, like he’d spent all night raking his hands through it, and he was barefoot in jeans. Kylie was pretty sure this was the hottest she’d ever seen him. Heat flooded her body, liquefying the lust between her thighs.
The sensation became so intense it was almost painful. Before she had time to ask him what he was doing, Trace’s strong hands gripped her and lifted her onto the counter. His labored breathing was the only sound she heard as he used those same hands to spread her knees apart. Kylie whimpered when he moved forward to press himself between them.
This was not the Trace Corbin she was used to. This man had pleading eyes and was trembling to the point of vibrating with…want. Or maybe it was need. Kylie wasn’t sure. The muscles holding her rigid relaxed under his warm hands. He trailed them up her thighs, to her hips, finally reaching up and touching her face with gentleness she hadn’t expected him to be capable of. His thumb grazed her bottom lip and it sent a shock straight through her, causing her to arch into him.
When he let his hands fall back to her hips, she reached up and placed her fingers in his hair, using the lush brown locks to pull him closer. His head dropped below hers with a soft moan, and she could feel him breathing her in. She took advantage of the opportunity to do the same. Bourbon, aftershave, and that woodsy scent that was all Trace. No cheap perfume from his friend from earlier. Trace’s soft warm lips brushed against her neck, sending another shiver through her with so much force it would’ve jolted her off the counter had he not been holding her in place. “I’m sorry about what happened in Jackson,” he whispered. “God, I’m so sorry.” His voice was thick and raw and broke something inside of her.
She couldn’t speak so she nodded against him. She’d already forgiven him.
Her mind raced with questions. The most pressing one being, what the hell are we doing? But somehow it didn’t seem important to figure it out right that second. She wanted this, ached for it. She hadn’t even realized how badly until that very moment. Holding him close to her felt right. Safe. As if this was what she had needed all along. This is what would take the pain away.
Trace pulled away, just a few inches, but Kylie moaned her displeasure. She tried to pull him back in, biting her lip when he shook his head. God, those eyes. Take cover, they said, because the storm was here, now. And Kylie wanted nothing more than to hurl herself right into its path.
She didn’t know what he was looking for, but his eyes sought answers in hers that she didn’t have. She didn’t even know what the question was. She just wanted him. Like she had never wanted anything or anyone in her entire life.
Cupping her chin firmly, Trace leaned in and oh, oh she was more than ready for his mouth. But he didn’t kiss her. He pressed his forehead to hers and closed his eyes. “So damn beautiful,” he rasped.
Gripping his hips and pulling him as close as possible, until the only thing keeping them apart was the thin lace of her panties and the denim of his jeans, Kylie let her hand stroke his stubbled cheek. She pulled her legs up to wrap them around his waist and Trace let loose a deep growl that had her throbbing against him. The intimacy of it was like nothing she’d ever experienced, taking her higher than even performing on stage had. Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive.

Game On
As each side tries to game the other, something else seems to be getting in the way—attraction. Now Ryan and Jett must keep their teams from getting distracted by the opposite sex…and each other. All is not fair in love and war when it comes to winning this game.

Book Review:

Pretty Smart Girls was one of those books that once I started reading it, I could not put it down. There were so many parts that I absolutely loved while reading as well! All the characters had such great chemistry together and there was great banter amongst them.

I liked that the romance wasn’t love at first sight, yes there was an attraction, but Jett and Ryan worked up to figuring out their feelings. I adored the photo booth scene, it was just too perfect!!! I also liked the Jett and Ryan’s teammates’ relationships with each other.

This is a read book that will engage the reader from the very beginning. If you like shows like the apprentice you will love this book!!!!
