Book Summery:

A summer of seduction…Jules Carmichael needs to get her life together. Pronto. School’s been hell, there was that tiny stint in rehab, and worst of all, she’s lost her cushy summer job. The only available work is at Office Jax, home of horrid 90s music and the biggest jerk on this side of the galaxy…

Recovering from a brutal break-up and taking a hiatus from college, Ryan DeShane has just discovered the “6 Ultimate Steps to the Perfect Summer Fling.” It’s a brilliant distraction, and Jules is a tantalizing target. But the “steps” work a little too well, because he and Jules are definitely, uh, flinging. And it’s only a matter of time before Ryan’s foolproof plan starts to seriously unravel…

My Review:

Foolproof is the second book in the Drexler University series, but the book can be read out of order. I never read Unethical, but that did not stop me from enjoying Foolproof, it only made me want to read the first installment to find out more about Blake and Payton.

When Ryan and Jules first meet they have the worse first impressions of each other. Ryan thinks that Jules is a stuck up princess like his cheating ex-girlfriend and Jules think that Ryan is an asshole. After Ryan reads an article about a summer fling, he decides Jules is the perfect girl for the job. I loved all the corny jokes between Ryan and Jules, it was something I would do and using parts of song made them even better.

Foolproof was a very sweet romance, I like that wasn’t a lot of drama, they were just two normal college students with normal problems. Who brought out the best in each other, and helping read other along the way.

Excerpt

Shifting in my seat, I pulled off the hoodie, my shirt creeping up with the sweatshirt. I turned to Jules, whose mouth had shaped in a very attractive O, her gaze roaming over my exposed abs. She glanced up and quickly looked away when she saw I’d noticed her stare.

Caught you.

She was interested. Time to reel her in. “See something you like?”

She cleared her throat and, even in the darkness of the truck cab, I noticed the deepening blush that splashed across her cheeks. “I’ve seen better.”

There wasn’t a lot about my body that I was overconfident with, but I’d done enough sit-ups and burpees to earn my eight-pack. “You must see a lot of abs then. Have a rating system?” I snapped my fingers. “No, wait, a spreadsheet.”

“If that were the case, you’d be a mid-lister.” Her mouth quirked into an innocent smile.

I suddenly wanted to dropkick every single guy on that list. What kind of guys did she date if I was a “mid-lister?” Bodybuilders? Thor?

I needed to flip the brakes of this freight train thought process speeding on a direct route to don’t go there, dipshit. Her dating history didn’t matter, because in a few weeks I’d be back in Texas. A few times of hooking up, and I’d have this girl out of my system. “Good thing I’m not just another guy on your list.”

She cocked a brow, a clear Payton-ism, her gaze wandering everywhere but my direction. Her fingers etched across the earrings running up the perimeter of her ear. I wanted to run my tongue over each one of the piercings, pin her down in the truck, and explore every inch of her skin. My cock twitched in agreement. I shifted in my seat, adjusting my raging erection.

“You wouldn’t even qualify, DeShane.”

“Is that so?” Damn, she was cocky. And I loved it.

“Not even for the thirty-day trial period.”

“I wouldn’t need thirty days to convince you,” I said.

“And how many would it take?”

Lowering my voice, quiet enough for Blake and Payton not to hear—not that they paid either of us any attention—I said, “I could have your toes curling in twenty seconds flat. Two minutes, and I’d be at the top of that spreadsheet of yours.

BOOK SUMMERY:

Former model and restaurateur Jenna Rawley has a plan. Marry the man who looks best on paper, and live the secure life she craved as a child. But when her fiancé runs off, with her money, Jenna’s left with nothing but the past she’s spent years outrunning. With no other options, she’s forced to move back home, find a second job, and come face-to-face with a man who has every reason to distrust her.

Firefighter Luke Kearney never forgave Jenna for leaving town after he proposed in high school. So, he’s not especially happy when he’s forced to plan their fifteen-year-reunion with her. Jenna is the last person he can trust. But the more they work together, the more Luke realizes that the girl who broke his heart might have become the woman he could love forever.

MY REVIEW:

There are a lot of second chance books out there and it’s a type of book I really enjoy reading. During this book I was able to see both main characters Luke and Jenna grown and change, and that is something I love seeing. I also loved Luke! Well, I loved him until he turned into a jerk toward the end! I’m not really sure how I felt about Jenna, she was very frustrating and I just wanted her to explain why she left all those years ago. I had my suspicions and I ended being half correct!

It was very interesting to have Luke’s wife’s POV while reading the story, not sure it was to set up the next book in the series or just to get more perspective on Luke. It did allow me to realize how much Luke loved Jenna, even if he didn’t see it himself. Olivia was a very likeable character but having her point of view showed how she wasn’t really there to break anyone up.

But not only does Dominic want to help Kate renovate her home, he’s also willing to play “boyfriend.” All he wants in return is a little pro bono work for his sister. Now instead of Mr. Right, Kate has a delectable Mr. Fix-It-Right―and some unbelievable sexual chemistry. And if falling for Dominic is a breach of contract, Kate is guilty as charged…

MY REVIEW:

What a sweet story!!!! I am a huge fan of Entangled Bliss stories and this one did not fail me. I think this story had the right amount of passion and cute moments. Even though it was the type of story where I basically knew what was going to happen, it didn’t keep me from enjoying it. I loved how Kate changed and grew as a person, finding what she really wanted in life as appose to what she thought she wanted. Dominic, I do not know what to say about him, he had the biggest heart and a big contender for a book boyfriend!!!! His family were quite a group of characters as well! I cannot wait to read more stories about them and hopefully seeing how Kate and Dominic are doing.

This is the type of book that I know I will be reading again and again when I want to curl up with a cute love story.

The Trouble With Bree (A Spotlight Series Novella)

Title- The Trouble with Bree

Author- Kristen Strassel

Release Date- January 15th, 2015

Amazon- http://goo.gl/OoOQAb

BOOK SUMMERY:

The trouble with Bree is…

Bree Farrell is ready to turn her life around. A twenty-one-year-old mother of two, she’s not sure where to start. She could use a little help, but her string of horrible ex-boyfriends keep setting her back. First step: she’s swearing off men forever. Or at least until she gets back on her feet.

Josh Maxwell got a second chance at life, and now he wants to help kids who are in the same situation he was in. His new job as the coordinator at a preschool for underprivileged kids is the perfect place to do that.

On paper, the policy not to get involved with the families of the students makes perfect sense. But when Bree meets the new coordinator of her son’s school, she and Josh learn that some rules are made to be broken, no matter what the consequences.

BOOK REVIEW:

I loved so many things about The Trouble with Bree, which doesn’t surprise me since I love Kristen’s writing.

This was a very sweet story about a girl who always falls in love easy and always picks the wrong guy. That is until she meets the director at her son’s new preschool. How can you not fall in love with a man that will be there for not only you, but for your children as well? I know I fell in love with Josh by reading his interactions with Bree’s children!

One thing that I did not like about this book was that it was so short!!!! I could have seen/love to see this as a full novel, but if you need a quick read, I recommend it!

Excerpt ~ Gwen

His lips were softer than I’d ever imagined, and I’d imagined them a lot. At least once a day since I turned thirteen, maybe more.

I brought a hand up to touch his cheek gently, worried that too much movement on my part would bring him back to reality, and he’d pull away.

I could taste beer on his breath, but I didn’t mind. He moved closer, his hand on my back drawing me in so our chests touched. I took a sharp breath at the contact, amazed at how good it felt.

This was the first time I’d kissed, or touched another guy since that night with Brad at his party, but it was apples and oranges in comparison. With Craig I didn’t have one second of doubt, I knew I wanted his lips on mine, and now that I’d had a taste, I didn’t know how I’d ever be able to go back to the way things used to be.

I hoped he felt the same.

“Can I touch you, Gwennie?” Craig asked, his hand at the hem of my t-shirt.

His breath against my ear caused goosebumps to break out over my sensitive flesh.

“Yes,” I responded, my voice barely a whisper.

His hand was cool against my heated stomach and I shivered as he ran it up towards my breasts, which became heave in anticipation of his touch.

*This story is meant for readers 18 and older.

Too bad she keeps getting distracted by her super-sexy, six-feet-of-tattooed-hotness friend, Des, who is so many shades of Mr. Wrong…

As Gracie’s discouragement grows, Des realizes it’s time to show her what she really needs in a man—and it has nothing to do with a briefcase and generous bank account. He’ll teach Gracie the Rules According To Des…even if it means breaking his rule in the process.

MY REVIEW:

Rule number one: Don’t fall for the wrong guy

The Rules According to Gracie was a short but sweet story that I was able to read in one sitting. I loved the friendship Gracie and Des had from the very beginning of the book. He would save her from boring dates, but secretly wanted to be on one with her, and she secretly wanted to be with him. From the very beginning there was such chemistry between the main characters, I just wanted them to give into their attraction, but where’s fun in that? I absolutely loved that they would email each other during their lunch break, too cute!!!

The only problem I had about this book was that it wasn’t longer, I would love to read another story involving these two characters!

BOOK SUMMERY:

Pressing the boundaries of both the psyche and the heart, Sam and Holden embark on a dangerous journey that will test the limits of love.

Sam Wintry’s life used to be almost perfect. She was engaged to her childhood best friend and high school sweetheart, Tyler Marks, planning an amazing cross-country honeymoon during her college break. But after a hit-and-run leaves her in ruin, she begins seeing Tyler’s fractured, ghostly presence, and her family believes she’s losing her mind. Not until she completes their journey, stopping along the way to scatter Tyler’s remains, will Tyler be able cross over. Only…is Sam ready for him to leave her?

When the black sheep of the Marks’ family, Holden Marks, returns to check on Tyler’s case, Sam convinces him to give her his brother’s ashes. Despite their shaky history, she needs him…plus, he owes it to Sam and his brother. What she doesn’t count on is Holden’s relentlessness to go on the trip.

On the road, Holden realizes just how unhinged Sam has become. Dealing with her psychosis forces him to confront his dark past, making it harder to keep secrets hidden that should remain buried. Especially from Sam, the only woman he’s ever loved. And as Sam starts to unravel the truth, she begins to question if the brother she’s unwillingly falling for again is in an even darker place than her.

MY REVIEW:

The Darkest Past was a great contemporary romance with a little darkness mixed into it. I think that the fact that there was a bit of a mystery in the book really made me keep reading. I had all my own speculations on how Tyler was killed and how Tyler and Holden’s mother died, or course I needed to know if I was right or not. That wasn’t the only reason why I enjoyed the book, but it was a plus.

I completely felt the connection between Sam and Holden, Tyler and Sam I felt that love was a little forced. Though the flashback and Sam’s talks with Tyler’s ghost, I felt there was a little bit of a competition. I don’t think Tyler really wanted to lose Sam as a friend and that was the reason he set a claim on her.

There was also a bit of a paranormal within the book, for people who enjoy those types of books. I think Trisha Wolfe did a great job intergrading Tyler’s ghost and different facts that Sam had read in books.

Major points for having a Black Veil Brides mentioned in the book, most of the music selection was great!

The Surrogate Husband

Title- The Surrogate Husband

Author- Wynter Daniels

Publisher- Entangled Publishing

Lucy Hamilton owns a lingerie store, her business is doing great! She is opening up a second location, and she has a man for when she wants one for the night, things couldn’t get any better in her eyes. Then her mother walks into the shop with a little confession, while Lucy’s Aunt Bev was sick, she told her that Lucy has gotten married. Now that Aunt Bev is better, her mother has not confessed to Aunt Bev about the ruse. The bad news doesn’t even shop there! Aunt Bev is going to be attending an upcoming family wedding and cannot wait to meet Lucy’s husband.

Now that Lucy has to find a rent out a husband for the wedding, Lucy’s mom interjects and asks Lucy’s new accountant Dex Levian, who is beyond sexy! To Lucy’s surprise Dex agrees to help her out.

I loved how Dex and Lucy were polar opposites of each other! Dex was a clean cut business man who liked to keep things organized and in order. Whereas Lucy was a wild child who seeks out thrills and dressed a lot sexier than Dex is used to. I think in this case the saying “opposites attract” is certainly the case, there was an undeniable attraction between the two and they did a great job complimenting each other.

Book Review- What if by A. J Pine

What If (If Only..., #2)

Title- What If

Author- AJ Pine

Publisher- Entangled Publishing

Rating- 5 Stars

What if……

Maggie wasn’t sick two years ago

Griffin wasn’t a guy that had a new girl in his bed each night

Maggie never missed her bus and hitchhiked

Griffin never gave Maggie a ride to work

Maggie and Griffin never met

All those what if and so many crossed both Maggie and Griffin’s minds in order to protect themselves and each other from heartbreak. Maggie and Griffin’s story was adorable, as a reader I fell in love with this heartwarming story.

It took a long time to find out what was actually wrong with Maggie, for the most of the book, all I knew was she gets migraines, her memory isn’t that great and she takes blood thinners. I’m not too familiar with what happened to her, but she used it to stop living her life until she met Griffin.

One of my favorite scenes in the book was when Maggie and Griffin were laying in his bed and she was reading a book. It was such a simple scene but beyond sweet.
