Dreamology

by Lucy Keating

Publisher: Harper Teen

Release Date: April 12th 2016

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Fantasy

Rate: 4 Stars

Synopsis:
For as long as Alice can remember, she has dreamed of Max. Together they have traveled the world and fallen deliriously, hopelessly in love. Max is the boy of her dreams—and only her dreams. Because he doesn’t exist.
But when Alice walks into class on her first day at a new school, there he is. It turns out, though, that Real Max is nothing like Dream Max, and getting to know each other in reality isn’t as perfect as Alice always hoped.
When their dreams start to bleed dangerously into their waking hours, the pair realize that they might have to put an end to a lifetime of dreaming about each other. But when you fall in love in your dreams, can reality ever be enough?

What first caught my attention was the cover of Dreamologly, it’s simplistic and beautiful. After viewing the cover, I needed to know what the story was about, and that too caught my attention. I’m glad both those things grabbed my attention because this story was great!

Alice has been having dreams which included Max for as long as she could remember, but only knew him as her dream guy. When she moves into her Nana’s house and starts at a new school in Boston, Alice meet her dream guy in the flesh, but he isn’t like the guy she’s been dreaming about. Ms. Keating takes readers on an emotional roller-coaster where dreams and reality start to bleed together. I loved all the characters during the story, at first I didn’t want to like Max, but he was charming and I could see why Alice liked him. I absolutely adored Alice, she was a great relatable character, that young readers will love. It was interesting to have a bit of a fantasy aspect to the story.  I don’t want to say more than that because I don’t want to ruin any surprises for anyone who would like to read this story.

I would completely recommend this book for young readers and also readers that enjoy a sweet romance that’s easy to read.

Mad Mondays: Abby Crossing by Ophelia London

My Thoughts:

I started reading Ophelia London’s work when she wrote the Definitely Maybe Series and I was really excited to job the review tour for The Abby Road Series. Just like the other book that I have read, I enjoyed the story as a whole.

There was just one thing that I did not like about this one, at first I felt a huge connection to the characters and loving their romance and all of a sudden the book jumped three months in advance. So, I felt like something was missing and I lost a bit of the connection. Then their story started back up again and I started to feel the connection again.

I am a reader who loves to read stories where the main characters grow. I think Abby grew a bit in the end, but it took her a very long time to lead up to that moment. She kept getting pushed around and I just wanted her to see what was truly going on in her life. Then there is Todd, I liked him but I cannot believe he did what he did and never looked back. I did love them together and I cannot wait to read the next book!

As a huge fan of music it was interesting reading a story about a pop star and the struggles she was going through. She had a lot to deal with starting with her manager and how he treated her. It was completely awful but I know things like that happen.

I also like that all of the chapters were names of different Beatles songs! It was nice since Abby was such a huge fan it was incorporated in that way.

BLURB:

It’s been exactly one day since rock star Abigail Kelly fled her chaotic life in L.A. to her sister’s home in Florida. One day without her demanding manager, paparazzi, ridiculous tour schedules, and recording sessions. For the first time in five years, she has the summer off. To be anonymous. A summer to not think about losing her brother…or that her once-normal life has turned into a mess of panic and heartbreak.
But all it takes is one twist of fateto enter a stranger’s surf shop while trying to dodge some fansfor everything to change.
Because the shop owner happens to be a really cute guy with an amazing laugh. With Todd, an ex-Marine sniper turned surfer, she feels things she hasn’t felt for a long time. Possibly never. But when the real world comes crashing back in, Abby is caught between the superstar she’s become…and the painfully real human being she longs to be.

Blurb:
Todd Camford went from Marine sniper to owning a beachfront surf shop in Florida, and he couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, the programming from his training hasn’t quite been eliminated. His ex called him an unfeeling cyborg, but he’s a free-flying, unfettered hawk, damn it. Relationships outside of family are out of the question…
And then she comes into his shop.
Everyone knows who Abigail Kelly is—mega rockstar, tabloid fixture. Still, nothing prepares Todd for Abby’s smoky gray eyes or the swift breathlessness of their instant chemistry. He’d be an ass (or possibly insane) to think he can resist her. Just for today, maybe he’ll keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t get mobbed. Because really, how much damage could one day with a super-hot, kick-ass celebrity really do?

Guarding His Heart (Half Moon Bay #3)

Title- Guarding His Heart

Author- Annie Seaton

Publisher- Entangled Bliss

Release Date- March 10, 2015

BOOK SUMMERY:

Some people get under your skin.

Some get into your heart.

Bestselling author Liam Wyndham needed an escape, and Half Moon Bay, with its small town charm and beautiful ocean, is the perfect place to hide out from the scandal surrounding his estranged dead wife. A place where he can enjoy his writer’s block in sweet isolation. But all of his plans to become a surly recluse disappear when carpenter Georgie Sacchi marches into his house…

Georgie wants an adventure, and she has a plane ticket that promises her everything she needs—excitement, independence, and a way to escape the memory of her last ruined relationship. Still, she has one last job to complete before she can leave the country. The last thing she needs is a recalcitrant author with a gorgeous face (and a hot body) distracting her from her plans.

But life doesn’t always give you what you think you need…

MY THOUGHTS:

Another Entangled Biss book that I enjoyed reading from beginning to end! It was a great book to snuggle up on a snow day with. This book brought me to the warm weather while snow was falling outside.

Since this was a Bliss book there wasn’t a lot of drama and that is one of the main reasons why I like Bliss books so much! Liam went through a tragedy where he lost the woman he was married to, even though they were separated, he still cared for her. I like how he was able to open his heart up and give into his feeling for Georgie. Georgie on the other hand knew her feeling for Liam, but wouldn’t give into them because she was leaving and going on a trip she didn’t want to go on in the first place. There were so many times I got mad at her because she was just hiding behind this trip.

I always love a sweet contemporary romance that you can read from cover to cover in a day and this was one of them! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for exactly that!

Excerpt

Running lights on the floor illuminated the interior of the bus just enough to keep her from falling and breaking her neck on her way to the kitchenette. She reached out and felt around for the switch under the cabinets that lit up the area above the sink. She had just flicked it on when Trace’s bedroom door opened.
Her heart stuttered and Kylie froze. If the blonde from the bar was in there with him, Kylie was taking her ass to that Winnebago dressed just as she was.
Taking a few deep breaths to brace herself, she turned. Trace stood in the doorway, his dark shirtless figure making her heart race.
“Couldn’t sleep,” she said softly. He just stared at her, reminding her with his scorching gaze that she was dressed in a thin nightshirt that barely reached her thighs. “No company tonight?” she asked, doing her best to keep her voice light, unaffected.
Trace said nothing as he stalked towards her slowly, the force of his stare backing her against the counter.
“Trace,” she said softly as he came close enough to touch.
Still nothing. Just his eyes burning into hers as his bare chest expanded with each breath. His hair was a mess, like he’d spent all night raking his hands through it, and he was barefoot in jeans. Kylie was pretty sure this was the hottest she’d ever seen him. Heat flooded her body, liquefying the lust between her thighs.
The sensation became so intense it was almost painful. Before she had time to ask him what he was doing, Trace’s strong hands gripped her and lifted her onto the counter. His labored breathing was the only sound she heard as he used those same hands to spread her knees apart. Kylie whimpered when he moved forward to press himself between them.
This was not the Trace Corbin she was used to. This man had pleading eyes and was trembling to the point of vibrating with…want. Or maybe it was need. Kylie wasn’t sure. The muscles holding her rigid relaxed under his warm hands. He trailed them up her thighs, to her hips, finally reaching up and touching her face with gentleness she hadn’t expected him to be capable of. His thumb grazed her bottom lip and it sent a shock straight through her, causing her to arch into him.
When he let his hands fall back to her hips, she reached up and placed her fingers in his hair, using the lush brown locks to pull him closer. His head dropped below hers with a soft moan, and she could feel him breathing her in. She took advantage of the opportunity to do the same. Bourbon, aftershave, and that woodsy scent that was all Trace. No cheap perfume from his friend from earlier. Trace’s soft warm lips brushed against her neck, sending another shiver through her with so much force it would’ve jolted her off the counter had he not been holding her in place. “I’m sorry about what happened in Jackson,” he whispered. “God, I’m so sorry.” His voice was thick and raw and broke something inside of her.
She couldn’t speak so she nodded against him. She’d already forgiven him.
Her mind raced with questions. The most pressing one being, what the hell are we doing? But somehow it didn’t seem important to figure it out right that second. She wanted this, ached for it. She hadn’t even realized how badly until that very moment. Holding him close to her felt right. Safe. As if this was what she had needed all along. This is what would take the pain away.
Trace pulled away, just a few inches, but Kylie moaned her displeasure. She tried to pull him back in, biting her lip when he shook his head. God, those eyes. Take cover, they said, because the storm was here, now. And Kylie wanted nothing more than to hurl herself right into its path.
She didn’t know what he was looking for, but his eyes sought answers in hers that she didn’t have. She didn’t even know what the question was. She just wanted him. Like she had never wanted anything or anyone in her entire life.
Cupping her chin firmly, Trace leaned in and oh, oh she was more than ready for his mouth. But he didn’t kiss her. He pressed his forehead to hers and closed his eyes. “So damn beautiful,” he rasped.
Gripping his hips and pulling him as close as possible, until the only thing keeping them apart was the thin lace of her panties and the denim of his jeans, Kylie let her hand stroke his stubbled cheek. She pulled her legs up to wrap them around his waist and Trace let loose a deep growl that had her throbbing against him. The intimacy of it was like nothing she’d ever experienced, taking her higher than even performing on stage had. Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive.

Book Summery:

Amidst an ugly divorce and an even uglier scandal, Paige Kerrigan has returned to her parents’ estate to hide out until things blow over. While she’s enjoying a late-night naked swim, however, she’s shocked to find Owen Bellamy— her family’s former cute pool boy—standing poolside. Now he’s all hot, grown up, and renting the Kerrigan property…and he’s definitely not forgiven Paige for how she used to treat him.

Once, the beautiful but spoiled Paige Kerrigan was everything Owen wanted. Now she’s broke and Owen finally has his revenge…by offering her a place to stay as his housekeeper. Yet Paige isn’t the person he remembers. Instead, she’s far more than he imagined, and far more irresistible than is safe. But the last thing Owen can afford is to give his heart to the same woman who once broke it.

My Thoughts:

Did I like the book? Yes. Did I love the book? No, but I do think I pinpointed the reason why, which I will mention later.

Like all Entangled Bliss books, One Real Man was a very in a very sweet contemporary romance. There was very little drama, which I love about Bliss book! The drama was also solved very quickly. This was also a very easy read, it goes by every quickly and can be read in a night with ease.

This was also a second chance, which again I enjoy reading. Both main characters, Owen and Paige, had an extremely hard time letting go of what happened to them in the past or how they were preceded each other in the past. For some reason I could not connect to Paige, she bothered me a whole lot and I think that is why I didn’t love the book.

I also enjoyed seeing the connection Paige made to with how Owen’s sister was acting. I think that was a major turning point for both Paige and for Owen when he found out what Paige did.

BOOK SUMMERY:

Finally, Lucas Lawson is a free man. After serving five years in prison for embezzlement, he’s come home to Jessamine to right the wrongs he committed against his friends and family. But, it won’t be easy. For starters, the brother he’s looked up to his entire life wants nothing to do with him, and no one in town trusts Lucas enough to give him a chance to make amends. Until, Bailey Yates gives him a job at her family’s diner.

Single mom, Bailey Yates, has had enough of bad boys to last her the next eighteen years. She’s always been a sucker for them, and Jessamine’s ultimate bad boy, Lucas Lawson, is no exception. So, when he returns to town, naturally she’s drawn to him. And naturally, she must avoid him at all costs—no matter how sexy he is. She’ll give him a job, and keep her distance…until Lucas saves her son from a hit and run.

Bailey gives Lucas a hope for the future he hasn’t allowed himself to feel in years while Lucas melts Bailey’s heart every time he spends time with her son. Could he be the one to put her life back together? But when Lucas is accused of stealing from a local charity, Bailey must decide to support him or realize that some men are too good to be true.

MY THOUGHTS:

Sometimes it is so refreshing to read a sweet contemporary romance that has limited to no drama; Love So True was that book for me! I read Love So Hot and fell in love with Brody and Sydney, and now it was time for me to fall in love with Lucas and Bailey.

It seems to me that all of these Lawson brothers seem to be such gentleman, never wanting to use the girl he is interested it. Even though Lucas had a bad rap he was a decent guy through and though. I loved him and Bailey with each other, as a reader I was able to feel the chemistry from the very beginning.

I also like how if you read the first book in the Lawson Brothers Series, you were able to see where those characters were now. Although, Brody was kind of a jerk to his brother and that made me a little upset. Those McCoy sisters were at it again, trying to play matchmaker. I cannot wait for one of their turns to be matched. Mrs. Lawson was so sweet while having her moment with Lucas, she reassured him that he was a great guy, and could make a great stepfather if that is what he wanted.

I am very interested in reading Mason’s story next!!

Busted. Alexis Dubois just got caught shoplifting a cheap tube of lipstick at the local SmartMart. She doesn’t know what’s worse—disappointing her overbearing beauty-pageant-obsessed mother for the zillionth time…or her punishment. Because Lex is forced to spend her summer working at the store, where the only things stranger than the staff are the customers.

Now Lex is stuck in the bizarro world of big-box retail. Coupon cutters, jerk customers, and learning exactly what a “Code B” really is (ew). And for added awkwardness, her new supervisor is the totally cute—and adorably geeky—Noah Grayson. Trying to balance her out-of-control mother, her pitching position on the softball team, and her secret crush on the school geek makes for one crazy summer. But ultimately, could the worst job in the world be the best thing that ever happened to her?

My Thoughts:

Welcome to SmartMart, where crime pays minimum wage…

What a great read!! Paper or plastic was a sweet story about Alexis, who was caught shoplifting and to pay for her crimes she must work at the SmartMart. When Alexis starts working at the store she’s so negative! Not only about the situation but the people and store as well. Though out the book her view on everyone changes, the more she works with these people the more she likes them. Ruthie was too funny; she completely seemed to love life. Then there was Bessie, someone who was more like a grandmother to the employees. Last but not least there was Noah, a manager at the store, who also is her best friend’s arch enemy. He was a very hard working guy helping to support his family.

I thought the setting in the supermarket was quite interesting, I have read a book that was set in one yet and it was interesting to see who they came across, like the extreme coupon lady!

I like that the story between Noah and Alexis wasn’t love at first sight and they needed to work towards being together. There were cute little scenes between the two of them in the supermarket as well. I love how in the end Noah helped Alexis grow and mature along with him.

I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading sweet YA books.

Book Review:

Pretty Smart Girls was one of those books that once I started reading it, I could not put it down. There were so many parts that I absolutely loved while reading as well! All the characters had such great chemistry together and there was great banter amongst them.

I liked that the romance wasn’t love at first sight, yes there was an attraction, but Jett and Ryan worked up to figuring out their feelings. I adored the photo booth scene, it was just too perfect!!! I also liked the Jett and Ryan’s teammates’ relationships with each other.

This is a read book that will engage the reader from the very beginning. If you like shows like the apprentice you will love this book!!!!

Book Summery

Life can suck…

When reality becomes overwhelming, seeking comfort in fictional fantasies keeps hope alive. And while this escape may be a little delusional, it’s also therapeutic.

Sharing secrets is daunting, but virtual friends don’t often judge and they are always ready to share a glass of wine…or three…while typing out life’s latest endeavors.

Brooke believes obstacles only add to romance, not detract. Rachael longs for a more intense relationship, or so she thinks. Lizzie misses the excitement in her life, but sometimes new situations find you when you’re not even looking. And Jess believes a tiger can change his stripes. It can’t.

Bound by a shared passion for blogging about happily ever afters, these four young women use keyboard therapy to work through their expectations, anxieties, and inadequacies, all with the hopes of achieving the perfection found in romance novels.

Completely blinded by what they think life should be, they navigate their unique paths in search of what they envision is right. But when reality taunts them with persistent curve balls, will they be strong enough to choose wisely? Or will their happy endings escape them?

My Review:

“All the books sound the same lately. Sex, sex, more sex….. it’s stupid. Maybe it’s time someone should write a book about how much work it is for bloggers to read and review all the shit author are constantly spewing about perfect love and even more perfect sex.”

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!! When I began reading it, I thought I was reading a different book for review (the covers were extremely similar) and after I started I sat there thinking about how it was so much different from what I thought it would be, but in a good way!!!

Books, Blogs, & Reality had POVs from four different people, each were book bloggers that met online. I honestly didn’t think that I would be able to connect to all four since the book was only 200 pages, boy was I wrong. I think Ryan Ringbloom was able to form that connection for the reader. I also love how there was their online conversation and book reviews added in the book. There were sometimes that I was so engrossed in the character’s story that I didn’t want to change to read the next characters story, but the missing parts were filled in by some of their online conversations. I also love that the genre each character enjoyed is the reflected how they saw their love life. Rachel was into kinky stories and mixed that into her own love life. Jessica liked bad boy novels and had one of her very own that she thought she could change. Brooke just wanted to meet someone dark and handsome and enjoyed novels where the leads fell for each other. Then Lizzie loved romance as a whole and thought she was missing it in her own life.

I think readers will be able to relate to one of these characters if not more!!! I cannot wait to read more from Ryan Ringbloom!!
