~~SUMMARY~~

Everything about Seventeen’s life is perfect, from her genetics, to her home in Sanctuary, to her status as a Breeder in the Unified World Order. But all that changes when she meets a rogue Enforcer named Pax, who infiltrates Sanctuary and targets her for extraction from the Controlled Repopulation Program. Pax seems to know a little too much about her, and he plants dangerous doubts in her mind that accuse Sanctuary of hiding a dark secret, and that cause Seventeen to question everything she’s ever known.
When Seventeen’s life is threatened, she has little choice but to run away from Sanctuary with Pax. But for Breeders, contact with men is forbidden by law, and even the simple act of taking Pax’s hand is treason.
Mired in confusion, Seventeen travels with Pax to the outside world and takes the name Pria, the identity of her childhood. But she is far from certain she’s made the right decision when they discover an entire community of people who should no longer exist.
Seventeen, now Pria, is thrust into a position as a key player in a dangerous bid to bring down the Unified World Order. Meanwhile, Pax’s attachment to her and her growing attraction to him contribute to the ever-growing mysteries in her life.
Pria’s journey from a sheltered, naïve Breeder to a rebel agent requires not only external transformation but self-discovery. As her world crumbles, Pria must decide who she is and what she really believes.
But the truth comes at a cost, and uncovering it will require a greater treason than she could ever have imagined.
MY THOUGHTS
“Holding his hand marks the end of my life, but somehow it feels like the beginning”
In The Unified World, everyone and everything is equal, both animals and humans are the same and neither one is important. A lion eating a child is no different from a fire burning a tree. There are somethings that are protected and must be saved, for example, a deer is protected and will be saved if a lion tries to eat it.
Seventeen, as known as Pria, was living the perfect life; she is a carrier for the Unified world, which means she carries the children that will become the future people of The Unified World Order. Carriers are known to have perfect genetics and produce perfect offspring. She is also living in ‘The Sanctuary’, where she is kept safe and sound. Until she meets a rogue Enforcer named Pax, once she meets him she is instantly drawn to him and needs to find answers. That is when he takes her away and Pria’s life comes crashing down around her, everything she has grown up learning is wrong and she can’t wrap her head around it.
K.B. Hoyle did a great job creating such vivid characters. Since Pria has never see ressesive traits and is naive about many things, K.B. Hoyle had a job to describe everything through Pria’s eyes right down to the last freckle on someone’s face. I think because of the images I was able to make, I was more attached to the characters.
It was also interesting to see how both Pria and Pax have not been introduced to love and attraction. It was interesting to see them try to sort out what they were feeling and learning basic interactions with the other gender. For Pria, she has never even seen a man before meeting Pax.
I think the book more in a great pace but the end was a little rushed, I felt as though that was a major part of the book, and could have been a little longer.
I cannot wait for the second book in the series to find out what happens next!!!
