My Thoughts:
Matter of the Heart was story about moving on after your dreams are no longer attainable. Abby Lipman is a competitive swimmer, she wakes up early and goes to practice, she practices in the after school and on the weekends. When she gets dizzy and blackouts one day after a swim meet, her parents take her to the doctor. Abby then finds out she has HCM (an enlarge heart), and will need to take medication that will keep her heart rate down. A slow heart rate means she would be able to swim very fast, which makes Abby’s entire world come crashing down.
I liked most of the characters in the story. One I couldn’t stand was Abby’s partner, Connor, I still want to know what his story was and if Alec was correct. Abby was such a likable person and dealt with her HCM the way any athlete would have. Who would want to give up the one thing their world surrounds.
This book was such a great read that I just read through in the matter of a couple of sittings. Once I finished the book, I wished there was more! I feel like these characters still have a story to tell.
