from Goodreads:
Tragedy has left Cara Cassidy broken and
the only thing keeping her from giving in completely is her guilt. Until Nik
Rock.
Nik stirs up feelings in degrees she has never experienced, and causes her to
do things that most assuredly give him the wrong impression – like kiss him
before their first date. Somehow, he breaks down the walls around her emotions
until she has no choice but to forgive herself and feel again.

But a mysterious, troubled past follows Nik, and Cara may prove to be his
weakest link.

When a royal princess shows up looking for Nik, and an international gang
arrives looking for missing jewels, Cara lands in mortal danger. Will she be
able to save herself? What will happen to her newly repaired psyche if she
loses Nik?

Romance, mystery, and high stakes – just another day in high school.

Age group: Adult

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Scheduled to release: April 18, 2015

Amazon

BLURB:

This BOX SET includes Lovers Lane, Memory Lane, and Dead End Lane

LOVERS LANE

After her sister is attacked and left clinging to life, Roxana Lane vows revenge on the man responsible. But the closer she gets, the more detective Nathan Scott watches her every move. With his piercing eyes that seem to miss nothing, Roxy finds it harder and harder to hide her secrets… and stay out of his arms.

A contradictory mix of strength and vulnerability, Roxy is a conflict of interest that fascinates him on every level. But when the sexy amateur sleuth uncovers Scandal’s dark underbelly, he must choose between the woman he wants and the law he serves.

MEMORY LANE

The man who put Roxy Lane’s sister in a coma is still living his wealthy, entitled life, hiding behind a veil of privilege and power.

The law can’t touch him. But Roxy isn’t the law, and he isn’t aware she’s watching… waiting…. For it’s not due process she wants but vengeance.

Detective Nathan Scott wants justice as much as Roxy, but with no evidence to investigate and pressure from superiors to look in another direction, the clock is ticking.

And it’s only a matter of time before the woman he’s come to care for takes matters into her own hands.

DEAD END LANE

Despite Nate’s assurance that Brody Harrison is under investigation for the assault on her sister, there is an unrelenting darkness within her, demanding justice—swift, brutal justice.

But before Roxy can put her plan into motion, she stumbles upon Scandal’s dangerous underbelly. Hunter becomes prey, and Roxy must decide which is more important—vengeance… or her life.

My Thoughts

The Lane Chronicles is a box set of three small stories, that read as one full story.
Roxy’s sister was involved in a hit and run, and she will do anything to bring the man who did it down. The detective on the case wants to help as much as he can but when the man responsible is someone of privilege, it may be harder than he though. It take all that he has to stop Roxy from going after the guy herself.
I thought these books would have a bit more of a mystery to them. I really enjoyed the concept of the book and thought that it had so much potential. I think it was missing something and I think that thing was the fact that because these stories are so short that it all felt a bit rushed. I wasn’t able to connect to each character because of the length of the story.
I do however love the concept and was able to read the stories one after another, I never became bored while reading. Even though the Epilogue was perfect, I still want to know who the dragon is and what is going to happen Roxy and Nate now that they stuck their noses somewhere they shouldn’t be.
I would recommend this book to any one who love a bit of suspense and mystery but to keep some of my comments in mind. Overall this was a great book.

About the Author:

I blame my mother for my fascination with books. Growing up in northern Indiana there wasn’t much to do and I’d often complained of my boredom. My mom handed me a book and told me to shush. I’ve been obsessed ever since. Though I spent most of my time in between the pages, fantasizing of other worlds, I didn’t write my first book until I’d had three children—just in time to have not a moment to myself. In an attempt to keep my sanity, I write. My favorite stories contain strong heroes and heroines, fighting an attraction stronger than both of them.

I live in eastern North Carolina with my hero and our three mini villains in chaotic bliss.

Release Day: Ascenders by G.L Gaber

Published April 20, 2015 by adventuresinbooklandblog

We’re SO excited for this release! We would love for you to join us in celebrating the release of ASCENDERS by CL Gaber!

ASCENDERS (Ascenders 1) by CL Gaber
YA Paranormal Romance/Fantasy
Is this Hell or is this High School?
THE ASCENDERS Takes You To the In-between Where Teens Who Died Young Go On the Epic Adventure of an After-Lifetime.
Blurb:

Walker Callaghan doesn’t know what happened to her. One minute she was living her teenage life in suburban Chicago…and the next minute, she was in a strange place and in a brand new school with absolutely no homework, no rules, and no consequences.Walker Callaghan, 16, is dead.

She doesn’t go to Heaven or Hell. She lands at The Academy, a middle realm where teenagers have one thing in common: They were that morning announcement at their high schools because they died young.

These high school kids are now caught in a strange “in-between” zone where life hasn’t changed very much. In fact, this special teen limbo looks a lot like life in a quaint Michigan town complete with jocks, popular girls and cliques. “There are even cheerleaders in death,” Walker observes. It’s not a coincidence that the music teacher is a guy named Kurt who “used to have this band.” The drama teacher, Heath, is crush worthy because back in his life, he starred in some superhero movie as the Joker.

Principal King explains the rules — there are none. Why? You can’t die twice.

There is no homework.

No tests.

No SATS.

You’re just there to learn because the human brain isn’t fully formed until you’re 24.

By the way, you can’t get hurt physically, so race your Harley off that hillside. But falling in love is the most dangerous thing you can do …because no one knows how long you’ll stay in this realm or what’s next. Walker falls hard for tat-covered, bad boy Daniel Reid who is about to break the only sacred rule of this place. He’s looking for a portal to return back to the living realm.

Ascenders….An epic adventure of an after-life time.

“A unique twist on the paranormal that will keep you up all night reading.”-USA Today best selling author Tiffany King

Excerpt:

He just looked at me and nodded. It was a deal. Officially.
He sealed it the way we did at the quarry. He stuck out his pinky finger. We swore on it like little kids.
“When this delicious dinner is done and the kids are asleep,” I began, “I need you to tell me everything you know about going back.”
Another nod.
Then he grabbed me by the hips until I was face to chest, so I was forced to look up into his gray eyes. When he lifted me off the ground, I gasped. “You’re really going to do this?” Daniel asked, looking at me hard. “What if I don’t want you to do it? What if I forbid you? The last thing I need right now is to worry about you once I get there.”
“First of all, you can’t forbid me to do anything. And you won’t have to worry,” I insisted, secretly pleased that he cared that much. My surprised body pressed into his furious one.
“You and I are going to spend the next few weeks going over everything you’ve learned. We’re going to leave nothing to chance. We’re going to become scholars of time travel, but my way. We become experts by trying to answer every question,” I said, my feet still off the ground.
“We’re taking a really desperate, not to mention audacious, chance; but then everything in life and death is a desperate and audacious chance,” he said, softening his grip, lowering my feet to the ground, and holding me close.
“Then let’s be audacious together,” I said, glancing out the window where the kids and the dog were falling onto fresh snow mounds on the front lawn, thanks to an afternoon storm that seemed to represent the blank slate we needed to start anew.
Perhaps my period of desperate mourning was over, although the pain was still there and the wound was fresh. Daniel seemed to know it was also time to move on and he made that clear when he put his fingers under my chin, tilted my head up, and pressed his lips to mine in a hard kiss.
“Callaghan, chances are we’ll never make it back here,” he said into my ear as he held me. The beating of his heart told me a different story.
“I don’t like those chances, so let’s kick them in the ass,” I said.

Title- The Truth About Jack

Author- Jody Gehrman

Publisher– Entangled: Crush

Release Date- April 14, 2014

Amazon- http://goo.gl/t0xIQP

BOOK SUMMERY:

Dakota McCloud has just been accepted into a prestigious art school. Soon she’ll leave behind the artists’ colony where she grew up―hippie dad, tofu since birth, yurt―and join her boyfriend and best friend on the East Coast. It was the plan…until Dakota finds out her boyfriend and best friend hooked up behind her back.

Hurt and viciously betrayed, Dakota pours out her heart on a piece of paper, places it in a bottle, and hurls it into the ocean. But it doesn’t quite go where she expects…

Jack Sauvage finds the bottle washed up on the shore and responds to Dakota’s letter. Except what if his straight-laced life doesn’t jive with the free-spirited girl he’s only seen from afar? As Jack creates a persona he believes she’ll love, they slowly fall for each other with each new letter. Now Jack is trying to find a way to make this delicate, on-paper romance happen in real life…without revealing his deception.

MY THOUGHTS:

Dakota’s life was turned upside down when she finds out her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend. To let out her frustration she decides to write a letter, place it in a bottle, and throw out to sea. Little does she know, it doesn’t get that far and the boy named Jack found it.

I am a huge Nicolas Sparks fan and this book made me feel like this was the young adult version of Message in a Bottle. It had the same feel as that book, but had a different take.

I liked that this book had a duel POV to find out how both Jack and Dakota were feeling. Despite the fact that Jack was wealthy and Dakota lived in a Hippie commune, I think they grew up sheltered from the world. Both of them were home schooled and that made interactions with people their own age a bot sparse.

I liked both Dakota and Jack together, but I do wish he would have just been himself instead of being two different people.

I very much liked this book, but it isn’t one of my top picks. For me it is just missing something.

Book Review: Love So Irresistible by Marquita Valentine

Published April 18, 2015 by adventuresinbooklandblog

Book Summery:

All former Navy SEAL Mason Lawson craves is solitude. Unfortunately, his new neighbor won’t allow him the peace he so desperately needs. Between the traffic and the music, Mason is constantly on edge—not exactly what the doctor ordered for someone recovering from a bullet to the leg. However, when he finally has enough and confronts his neighbor, nothing can prepare him for how hot he’d get for the teacher next door.

Piano teacher, Skylar Jernigan, loves everything about the town of Jessamine—from the quaint Main Street shops to the people who own them. Unfortunately, once she’s chewed up and spit out by her sexy neighbor, Skylar begins to question her decision to move to a new town. Until, that is, she learns he’s suffering from a war wound and refuses to have anything to do with his family.

Now, Skylar is determined to help Mason recover—mentally, physically and socially—until he turns the tables and sets out to seduce Skylar right out of her meddling ways. Only seduction turns into something more and soon, Mason can’t stop looking for excuses to be with her. But when the Navy wants Mason to reenlist for a dangerous mission, will Skylar be too irresistible for him to leave?

My Thoughts

Mason Lawson is grumpy ex Seal, who cant stand the noise his neighbor makes. Skylar lives next door to Mason and gives music lessons to children at her house. When an incident brings Skylar and Mason together, their lives change.

I REALLY liked this characters, I think I liked them as much as I liked Sydney and Brody. Skylar just wanted to help Mason out and be there for him since he has pushed everyone in his family away. Mason was likable too, after you get pass the grumpiness there’s a whole other underneath. Also the McCoy sisters were up to their match making skills again, this time it was just Lemon!

Ms. Valentine’s writing is so easy and enjoyable to read, that you forget about the world around you! I love that I can pick up a book and know that I can it enjoy it.

Anyone who has read the first two books will love this one as well. Another Great thing is that you do not need to read them to enjoy this book, it can be read as a stand alone! I have been waiting since the first book to read about Lemon and Tristan’s story so I cannot wait for Love So Tempting to come out!!!!

Blurb:

At Le Cirque Macabre, Holly Octane bursts into flames five nights a week. The stage is where Holly feels most alive. When she’s there no one can touch her, and everyone adores her.

Brought to Las Vegas as vampire bait, Holly’s connection to the immortals is a mystery. She’s one of a kind– traveling through time and igniting when her emotions get too hot to handle. The only people who understand her are an aunt with a hidden agenda and her fortune teller girlfriend, Rainey, who doesn’t see a future with Holly in it.

Cash Logan needs Holly, but she’s not the reason he came to Vegas. The enigmatic magician seeks Blade Bennett, a vampire that has a power that he shouldn’t have–fire. A power that could determine the future of all of vampire kind. Holly’s the only one who can help Blade control his fire, but their feelings for each other are too fiery to ignore.

Immortals rule the Vegas night, and not one of them trusts Cash or Blade. If Holly lets them draw her in to this world designed to destroy her, she’ll lose everything—the only family she’s ever known, and everyone who adores her.

Las Vegas is her stage, and Holly is determined to set the city on fire.

*FIRE DANCER is a spinoff novel from The Night Songs Collection.

EXCERPT:

“How long have you been like this?” His gaze ran the length of my robe, and he didn’t have to clarify what he meant.

As far as everyone knew, I was twenty-four. “Decades. I think.” The concept of time simply made me dizzy.Cash nodded; my answer didn’t surprise him. “You were born north of London in 1781, in a village called Moorfields.” My knees buckled, and if I didn’t clutch the table, I would have fallen. Even though I knew the answer wasn’t going to be something nice and neat like twenty-five years ago in Memphis, actually having the answer blew my mind.“I remember things that happened before that.” I couldn’t face him. “And I think I remember you.”

“Do you?” Cash ran his fingers lightly along my hair, never touching my body. At first, I was terrified we’d burst into flames. We’d fireproofed my dressing room, but Cash wouldn’t survive. This information was just the tip of the iceberg. I needed him to stay alive. “What do you remember?”

Images jumbled in my brain as if someone spun a wheel. I saw Cash, bound, bloody, and burned, surrounded by laughing onlookers. His hair was shorter, and it was a different time, but I knew him. His eyes. No matter what humiliation was bestowed upon him, they remained proud. “Chaos.”

His silky laugh almost convinced me I’d been wrong. No one could actually survive the state I pictured Cash in, his skin purple from abuse, weak from starvation, and still have a sense of humor. But those eyes. “That’s about right.” He moved closer to me, my robe pressed against my skin.

I couldn’t let him distract me. “But why do I remember things that happened before that? Like I was there. Is that even possible?”“If you experienced it, then you made it possible, Holly.” His words were soft, and like time, they made me dizzy. “You’re a Bleed.”My eyes snapped open. “A what?”

“You’re a Bleed. You age much more slowly than mortals, and you’re immortality extends in all directions. Forward, backward, and sideways if it’s possible.”

I had to turn and face him. Rainey would knock on the door any time now, and I needed to wrap this up before she came. She’d warned me stay away from Cash. We’d been fighting too much lately already. I hated it. “How many of us are there?”

“You mean how many of you are there.” Someone knocked on the door softly. I forced my eyes away from Cash, and he stepped back. The knock repeated, more forceful this time. Rainey would be able to sense I wasn’t alone, even if she couldn’t see Cash. “You might be the only one.”

“Then how do you know so much about it?” I kept waiting for the heat to rise in my body, but it didn’t. All the triggers, fear and frustration, were there, but no flames. The knocking became frantic.

“Because I do.” Cash placed my hat back on my head before he headed to the door. His hand was on the doorknob when he turned back to me. “You’ve been patient this long, Holly. I want you to need me.”
